Very nice staff, relaxing rooftop terrace, wonderful evening and morning boat trips. While the hotel was a distance from the old city, a rickshaw ride was very inexpensive (rps 100 or 200, depending on where they dropped you), and it was nice to get to a quieter place each day.

We loved our stay at Rahul's Guest House. The front office was really good at offering suggestions and helping us arrange our activities, we particularily liked going on the river. Two of the very best features were the terrace/balcony overlooking the river and the restaurant that made it so convenient for coming home and having a good break.

We really enjoyed our stay at Rahul Guest House. I had a fantastic early yoga class at the roof with a fantastic view, followed by a nice Breakfast and made the most of the evening/early boat trips. Staff was superb and very helpful. While we didn't have a direct view to the river, our room was huge and very comfortable, will definitely recommend it.

Rahul's Guest House is great value-for-money in Varanasi and its excellent staff really stands out. River view is true but relative since it's on the southern banks of the Ganges overlooking Nagwa Ghat, so not super central. Rooms are clean and (mine at least) spaceous, adjoined bathroom had ample hot water. All of the above plus a rooftop terasse with a view is rare at this price range and restaurant takes time but everything is freshly made. I can only recommend.

It is located at the very end of the River. It takes us 20 mins to walk to Assi Ghat because the river sidewalk is discontinued before the guesthouse. But compared to those GH around the old city, maybe Rahul is more peaceful. Food is also delicious on the roof top restaurant.

Not a Hostel- this is an Indian style hotel. Owner (whose son's name is Rahul) is phenomenally helpful. Hotel is located away from noise and chaos of old town, but walking distance to Assi Ghat. Neighborhood is cute, quiet, and walkable by Indian standards.

We enjoyed our stay here as the location is very good , near Assi Ghat with a view up the river. The cook was friendly and prepared some tasty meals although you can't order much that is on the menu. Reception staff arranged an early morning boat ride past the ghats at a reasonable price.

We were so happy when we arrived to see the wonderful roof deck over looking the river. Our room was large and clean, we especially enjoyed all of the electrical upgrades! The location was perfect and the staff very friendly and helpful! Overall it was perfect and I would recommend to any traveler, and already have!

I really loved my stay here...I'd spent a couple of days nearer the main ghat and coming back to the Rahul was a huge relief from the crowds, noise and dust. I enjoyed the food, liked my room, loved the friendliness of the staff & the very helpful owners and hanging out in the rooftop restaurant. I would absolutely stay here agin.

I had a great time at Rahul Guest house. My room was nice and the restaurant on the roof top was convenient (although beware of mosquitoes!). I did the evening boat ride organized by the Hotel and it was really nice (I was the only one on this little row boat). It is a good idea to use the airport pickup service because the Hotel is tricky for other drivers to find and the price (700Rs) is the same as what you pay at the airport (there are no rickshaws). Overall good place!

Great GH were met by the owner at the door (he also waved goodbye as we left) gave us a great room lots of information and really turned our Varanasi experience around and we would go back to Rahul's any time.

If you want a quiet place you are right here. Very helpful with tours on the Ganga. Transport from the airport was organised as well.

Horrible location - it's a 10 min walk to Assi Ghat, but it's a pretty painful walk as the level of poverty and filthiness in the hood is striking. Staff was friendly and helpful, but it's way way too expensive for what it offers. Also boat tours booked with them cost 3X of market price (the advantage, though, is that you avoid the painful walk to Assi Ghat as the boatman picks you up next to the hotel - no Ghats here, just piles of garbage).

Staff was very helpful. They even brought me a cake on my birthday. The hotel was clean, and and in a decent location. We stayed for 8 nights with no problems. Showers were clean and there was hot water when we needed it.
