The hostel owner is a nice couple and very friendly. Location of the hostel is close to pubs (~300-500m). Because the hostel is in a very small town, there are no ATMs around (the closest one is 8km away in Cliff of Moher), however most pubs there have card machine (also worth noting that this hostel has no card machine, therefore the payment has to be made in cash). The couple also provide bicycle rental which is very cheap (5euros for hosteller). Had a wonderful time there.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Rainbow Hostel. Carmel and Mattie have created a little gem. The hostel has a very comfortable common room heated with a wood burning stove, its floor paved with Liscannor stone and has a large well equipped kitchen. Had a nice en suite bedroom. McDermott's pub just 50 yards down the road. Perfect

Maddy and Carmel are the best! This was a fantastic experience that was the cherry on top of this wonderful Doolon Sundae! I want to come back in 2 years for their 30th anniversary! Outstanding

Mattie and Carmel are excellent hosts! Showers, beds, kitchen, and common area are superb. The hostel is just up the road from the best pub in Doolin, McGann's, and only a short walk from the main street in Doolin and a place to get basic groceries. Close to the Burren, Cliffs of Moher, and Doolin pier where you can get a boat out to the Aran Islands. Very highly recommended!

I almost don"t want to spoil the secret of the Rainbow Hostel. I have yet to find another hostel as cozy, hosts as forthcoming and as warm-hearted as Mattie and Carmel of the Rainbow Hostel. The living room has something really special, I can't tell what, but as soon as you'll sit there at night, chatting with other guests so seamlessly, you'll know what I mean. Go there, seriously.

We loved our stay here! Mattie and Carmel are lovely and such warm, welcoming hosts. The showers were great which is always a bonus. The hostel was so cosy and comfortable and it was in a great location too. We would definitely recommend staying here!

The WiFi was a bit dodgy but more likely to do with the recent storms - not the hostel's fault. The owners were lovely and really helpful. The rooms are warm (in Feb!) once the underfloor heating is on and they build up a generous fire in the common room. Showers were clean and there was plenty of hot water. Superb kitched and nice dining room. Great pub just down the road. I think they need to be more security conscious - use the code on the exit doors etc.

Glad to hear that you enjoyed your visit. We were very happy to have you stay with us and hope to see you again in the future. Thank you for bringing the issue of the front door to our attention. We take security very seriously and have either keys or code locks on every internal and external door as well as CCTV in public areas. Best wishes - Carmel & Mattie.

We recently stayed at the Rainbow Hostel, and the staff we incredibly helpful, as they have a vast knowledge of local attractions. The hostel was very clean with a great Kitchen and delicious scones were provided in the morning for breakfast. The flexibility of the owners made our stay at this hostel a wonderful experience, something you would not find at larger commercial hostels. Great value for money as well!! Will definitely be going back this summer.

Great atmosphere, really nice common room where the turf fire is always topped up. I loved the owners, they were really nice and told me all about the good hikes around the area. Best location to walk to the Cliffs of Moher. Bring lots of food with you if you are staying for a few days or more, the local shop was closed.

We stayed in the owners house in a double room. There is a separate building right next door for dorm rooms. The owners, Mattie and Carmel were welcoming and helpful. You can tell they take pride in the area they live in and can give you any information or direction. The doubles were very nice, newer updates, hot shower. hairdryer. Walking distance to many things in town and the pier. (If you are ambitious, you can bike ride to the Cliffs of Moher, 10km)

The staff was really friendly and helped us with all questions. The kitchen was big and equipped with everything you need. In the hostel there were lots of brooklets and travel guides and a very cosy common room. The hostel was heated by a peat fire which created a very comfy atmosphere. The room with an own bathroom and clean.

Good hostel overall. Right across from the bus station, good kitchen. Couldn't connect to wifi the whole time I was there unfortunately.
