Great place if you want someplace quiet to get a good sleep while exploring Dali and the area. Rooms were basic but nice and clean. The location is perfect, in one of the alleys in the heart of the old town. I'll definetely stay there again if I come back to Dali.
Rainbow Guesthouse was clean, comfortable, spacious and welcoming. Staff werefriendly and it was helpful that they could speak English. we appreciated the good service provided and would recommended thehostel to other travellers wjo would prefer a centrally located, but quiet location with good atmosphere.
Had a really nice stay here. Hostel is in the old town of Dali, close to the city center, but right far enough for a peaceful nighttime.
We got an upgrade for free and thus stayed in an apartment instead of a twin room. The apartment was very spacious, extremely clean and comfortable. The staff are lovely, kind and always helpful. Plus, the location is perfect: The centre of Dali old town is a only two streets (5 min) away but this neighbourhood is very quiet at night.
Staff were very helpful and spoke good English. Room was spacious with bedroom and sitting area.

We were very pleased with the apartment, very spacious and we even had a fridge! Shower could be better, but the rest of the facilities were all very good, fast wifi, nice common place. Very friendly staff and excellent information on how to get around in Dali. Information on Hostelworld says they rent bicycles but they actually don't. However, this is not a problem since a lot of shops in Dali rent bicycles. Doing laundry is free but clothes take a while to dry.
Rainbosw's Nest is a very charming, nice and quiet place. Yet still right in the centre of Dali. Just a few minutes away from the hotspots. The owner speaks English (her partner is from England) and will help you with everything you ask her. She even provides maps of the Er Hai Lake (a nice lake outside of Dali, which is excellent to cycle) and the mountains nearby. The place is very clean and has a nice roof top terrace! Highly recommended!!!!!!!! :)
We stayed at rainbow's nest for four nights, and found it a very good place to stay. The hostel is located in a quiet street, only a short walk to the old city's main streets. We booked a double room, but were upgraded to an apartment for free. The rooms are really clean, spacious and nicely decorated. On top of the building is a large rooftop terrace. Rainbow is a friendly lady who speaks English and will offer her help for anything you need. She makes sure that you will enjoy your stay in Dali!

Very nice place, clean and quiet, a little outside the crowded area and its very relaxing. Rainbow was very king and helped us with many travel tips and suggestions. I recommand this place to everyone.
Our apartment was clean and spacious with separate bedroom and sitting area. Bathroom very clean but lacked a separation between shower and rest of the room. Mattress on our bed was bumpy. The staff was very helpful throughout. The most serious problem was daytime noise from a building being constructed next to the hotel. In July 2014 the ground floor had been completed, and the second floor may be finished soon. All is quiet at night.
The host rainbow was really nice and sweet, and she upgraded us to an apartment since the standard double bed room we booked was under renovation. The hostel is great location-wise, right in the middle of Dali Old town. The hostel is set in a traditional Chinese courtyard style, but the rooms are fresh, clean and comfortable. Definitely good value for money! I would stay there again for sure :)
We only stayed one night but everything was perfect. The two tenants (chinese girl and english guy) are really kind and friendly, they helped us to book train tickets, explained good things to do (like restaurants, where to rent bicycles…). The too, was really spacious (private double room) and clean with private bathroom. Highly recommended !
Rainbow's Nest is a wonderful place to stay to enjoy Dali. My husband and I had a great four night stay. The rooms are large, clean, sunny and nicely decorated. You are a short walk away to the main tourist area which is full of cafés and shops. Rainbow is an exceptional host and speaks great English. She is more than happy to help recommend restaurants, book excursions or bus tickets. Rainbow cares for her guests. She even delayed travel plans to make sure she was available in case we nee
Rainbow, the owner, is a very helpful person anxious to ensure that you enjoy your stay and speaks excellent English. She lives on the upper floor so is always available to help. The rooms are spacious and some have cooking facilities. She does not serve breakfast (but might do in the future) but there is a western diner called the Serendipity two blocks away One major advantage of Rainbows Nest is that it is inside the old town so convenient for everything but on a quiet side street.
