Manager would respond to emails in Spanish for me to translate. I made repeated requests for information regarding alternatives to boat service from Pavona where the low water was causing operators to suspend service and the manager did not provide alternatives. I learned from others about boat service at Siquirres where there is more water and also safer as only cars, buses, and boats around Pavonta have been attacked and passengers robbed.

The location was wonderful, surrounded by wildlife. If you want to visit the town you must pay $3.00 US each way for a five minute trip. Rana Roja needs to supply guests with mosquito nets or seal the cabins completely so that they are bug tight. No one likes to try to sleep slathered in bug repellent. Even with all of the repellent, the mosquitoes ate us alive.
