Well we made a mistake & got no sympathy. We are travelling with a 13m old baby so always book aircon rooms. For some reason we didn't see this one had no air con & didn't check the room before we handed over our money. BIG MISTAKE!! After looking at the room we went straight back to the owner to say we can't stay without air-con, our baby won't sleep! She said we should have checked the cancellation policy & she will charge us 50% if we cancel any nights! So we had 3 miserable hot nights here!

the chair's on the upstairs porch looked dirty; with a little effort you could make the porcha very nice hangout place :) i would recommend maybe buying new the blankets in the room, they looked quite old. otherwise i enjoyed my stay and would recommend this place for anyone looking for a private room in this budget range.

Raul rents out a pretty basic room with linoleum floor, one double and one single bed. It has tv, fridge and coffee maker which is great. It is cleaned with fresh towel daily, also great. You can sit on your own deck, but after reading there for a day it turned out my legs had been a feast for sandflies and they stayed terribly itchy for days. It is in an more residential area of the (tiny) island, which I liked because you hot a bit of an impression of island life.

The staff was friendly and unobtrusive. The amenities were basic but the sheets were cleaned and the bed made daily. The hot water and private shower was a nice addition. The room is in a nice part of the island. The neighborhood is quiet but only a short walk to front street and the bars/water.

Neat clean place in a quiet neighborhood but very close to town and activities. The second floor en suite room has no air conditioning but breeze keeps it comfortable.

great place, great staff!

It is not a hostel. It is a one room apartment on the property. You have to walk through a construction site to get to the room. If you want to meet other travels or are alone this is not the place. It is in a neighborhood not near any other hostels/hotels.

Owner Comment (Hide)
I'm sorry for your inconvenience, at this time we were doing some minor repairs on the room below as it is something that we needed to do in order to keep the rooms as comfortable to our guests. Caye Caulker is a small Island. The most popular Reggae Bar is located just a Block away and even though not across the street but there are hotels surrounding the entire area in all directions. On the island there are probably only 2 hostels and everything else is private hotel rooms, we are not a large business but we do the best we can for our guests.

Rauls is located about 5 blocks south of the center of town. No A/C just a fan. second floor. Family run ok. There is lots of places available even though the internet places say the hotels are full.

Great location with quiet and friendly neighbors. Nice to come back from a long day to a clean and tidy room. Appreciated the extra blankets and fridge space. Highly recommended after staying in other places on the island. Great value for what you pay!

This hotel is clean, safe and the owners are nice and friendly. The room is cleaned everyday and fresh towels are provided each day, which is nice. The location is away from the main street at a quiet neighbourhood. For those who prefer a quieter stay, this place is great!

Great value, great hospitality, good location. The mosquito screen was ripped though so sand flies ate us alive. Cheers!

Raul's a good guy, very accomodating and approachable - it was good to get there and have your own wee apartment. The only thing was the tv wasn't working and it wouldve been good to see the olympics-but apart from that, great - cheers Raul ;)

We loved it here, origionally booked 1 night and then stayed for 4 more! They clean and provide you with fresh sheets and towels daily, you have your own bathroom and mini fridge. It's a small room but amazing for the price, and with one of the beds being large we actually fit 3 girls comfortably which made it that much cheaper. Bars and restaurants start right across the street, and it's a ten minute walk to the split where the best swimming is. Would defo stay again!

I found Rauls on hostelworld, where it does not fit. It is not a hostel, but private persons who rent out a few rooms. They were nice enough, but got visibly dissapointed when we decided to move after just one day. The temperature in the room droped to freezing! There are no other travellers there, it is in a back street and has no atmosphere as such. It was ok for one night - a room, a bed, a bathroom, not dirty, but kind of worn, dark, mosquitonetting kind of torn, etc.
