The staff was amazingly nice, the kitchen was well equipped, and although they were in construction work on the hostel, everything was ok to receive us. It's a great quiet place to spend some days in !

Red Bus is a pretty small hostel, so not good if you're looking for a party vibe. My group was just looking for a place to sleep and shower. The dorms were spacious, beds were comfortable. There weren't many bathrooms - one shower, two toilets. But as long as you don't try to shower during the morning rush, it's fine. Walking distance to most of the city sights.

This place is really pretty nice--close to the river on the Pest side, with lots of pedestrian zones nearby with good food and beer. The only downside is that this place can be really, really dirty. Luckily I had my choice of beds, because one of the two had hair and what I'm hoping is lint all over it, as did the one chair in the room. Also, I would recommend taking a page from Douglas Adams--ALWAYS BRING A TOWEL. The hostel's towels were still and filthy--I don't think they ever wash them.

Dear Steve, you write that the Red Bus Hostel 'can be really, really dirty'... so by this we assume that by saying 'can be' you mean only sometimes like when a fellow guest has a hair that falls out and our cleaning staff fail immediately to spot it and pick it up? As for the hostel towels being 'still and filthy and you not thinking they ever wash them' ... is this you thinking or did you actually ask a member of staff, (you could have easily of recognised them, they were the ones prowling the premises with magnifying glasses looking for hair) as to whether the towels are ever washed? Of course they are washed!!!!! We admit they are not the luxury $100 towels one would receive at a five star hotel, but they are quality towels nonetheless that have been washed!!!!! It's a fact that it is a problem for hostels the world over is that if their towels are too good, many guests simply forget to return them...

I wanted to stay longer but they were going to charge me a lot more so I re-booked on Hostel world because it was cheaper. They were livid and they wanted the money that I gave to the site in their pocket. They didn't handle it correctly, and treated me terribly. I felt super uncomfortable. But if you don't do that, it's good. Nice kitchen. Nice travelers. You never have to get involved with the staff and it would be better.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Red Bus Hostel. Location was superb, being within walking distance (and metro if desired) to all the major sights. Security was high and we found the hostel to be very clean. Staff at the front desk were very helpful and informative.
