Location is perfect for a short stay in Montevideo - about 15 min walk from the old town and 30 min walk from the Tres Cruces bus terminal. Also, being located 3 min away from the main avenue of Montevideo, it is very easy to find buses to all parts of the city. Showers have been renovated and are clean, what is not the case with the rooms.. Breakfast is very basic - toast, dulce leche and 1 kind of jam. Staff very nice and helpful, though some do not speak any English
Hope this is the worst review I ever write, but our stay at red hostel had to be cut short 2 nights because it was awful. My fiancé
The hostel is located in a beautiful old house so the rustic vibe is fine, but it is in dire need of a proper good scrub and even, dare i say, some renovation. The kitchen was especially dirty and the women's bathrooms had only one of 3 sinks working during my stay and the only soap dispenser was also broken. The common area was way too hot - no AC - and the internet was very slow. Staff were lovely. Good location. Not worth $20/night though.
Nice rooftop terrace in a good location. Staff are super lazy. Hostel did not rent out towels, eventually they found one small towel to share between 3. Not particularly clean.
