Overall an average place to stay. The second room offered was much better than the first that the staff described as all the same, far from the same. Clean bathrooms, free breakfast, tea and coffee plus drinking water good. Careful not all CCTV working and we had an incident of theft.

Overall this is a good hostel. The location is great. The bed was comfortable, with each bunk having a light, shelf and outlet. I just wish that the tv hadn't been on so loudly and constantly in the common area and that they had more information about what to do in Penang.

Nice hostel, awesome double beds (massive!) although the pillows are a bit lacklustre! Decent common area and the staff are helpful. As with everywhere we have stayed in Malaysia so far, the walls are really thin, so it can be a bit noisy if you are next to or above the common area, but it's not a major problem. The shared bathrooms are cleaned twice a day so they are always nice.

Staff were not really helpful or concerned with our requests and questions. Other than that, the room was clean and the hostel location just fine.

Stayed there for 5 days, too long for Penang. Hostel was very clean with an amazing aircon. This hostel would have been great however we stayed in one of the rooms upstairs on the way to the bathroom and it is SO LOUD in this room. Even the smallest person walking past the room sounds like an elephant on the floorboards. The hostel has signs up asking people to walk lightly but it doesn't make much difference. Maybe the other rooms would be better.

A good hostel. Would stay there again.

This hostel was really good. The staff were exceptionally helpful. The only thing that would make this place excellent would be if they had individual lockers in the rooms for security and if each bed had its own plug and light. Other than the lack of proper security, a really great place!

I was only at the hostel briefly for one night, but the place has a heap of character, is clean, feels modern and has a good vibe. Would recommended.

I loved my stay at Red Inn Heritage. Location is just right, not too far from everything and very peaceful environment. Friendly staff also. The rooms don't have any lockers but it's still very secure even if I leave my laptop and cameras in the dorm. My only issue is the noise in the hallway every night because of the old wooden floors that creek every time someone passes by. During the nights I was there a group of Chinese teens were also staying and they were very inconsiderate.

Has the potential to be a great hostel, but not there yet. Could do with being much cleaner - floors were dirty and toilets / showers weren't great either. Floorboards are very loud, especially if you're on the top floor.

The Red Inn Heritage is located in Love Lane, the heart of the backpacking scene. Unfortunately, the walls are really really thin and we could hear the neighbours. The shower and toilet facilities were good, also clean. The breakfast was alright, even fruits were served. The WiFi is really bad in the rooms, in the lobby it is better. The staff was not really friendly. She seems to be annoyed because we arrived a bit late.

Not cheap generally quite comfortable and nice, the staff was very helpful...The room next to the stairs was terrible we could not sleep in the night, but after complaining they have changed to another one for free which was perfect.

I really liked the Red Inn Heritage hostel. It is in a really good location wand has nice clean bedrooms and bathrooms. Free WiFi, coffee and drinking water. Nice communal area with a big screen TV and plenty of movies to watch. I stayed 4 nights and wanted to stay longer.

Clean and beautiful hostel. But there is not enough plug in the dorm. How can 4 people sharing one plug only? Other aspects are excellent.
