The staff are the real gem here. Fevzy runs this place with his niece and they do such a wonderful job. The only issues we had were minor - the bathroom was a bit leaky while we were there and although we booked an 8 bedroom womens dorm we were put in an 8 bedroom mixed dorm. This was not a problem for us and they offered us free breakfast on our arrival for the inconvenience. The place is safe and clean and the staff are super accomodating.

Great place to stay! Fevzi was wonderful to us and made us feel extra welcome. We stayed in the 8bed dorm which was cozy and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable and the room was neat and clean. The breakfast was great! Great Turkish cheese, tomatoes, cucumbers, olives bread and jam and butter with a hard boiled egg and Turkish tea every morning. Fevzi was also very accommodating and a great source of information. We had a great stay here!

I was in a 10 people room. Beds are clean and confortable, but only one bathroom (wc + shower) for two big rooms is clearly not enough. 2 bottles of pee were on the floor ... But for 10€/night this is OK, safe, almost clean and wel situated to party and visit.

We had a wonderful stay at red river hotel. From the double bed room on the 4th floor you have a view over the roofs and you can even see the Bosphorus! Other rooms don't have such a panoramic view... Breakfast was good and served until 11 o'clock. The owner Fevzi was amazingly friendly and hospitable. Thank you!

The host was very friendly and helpful. The breakfast is very nice and the wifi connection was ok. The heating has to be fixed on the 4th floor, and when the heating fails, more blankets have to be provided. The wash facilities have to be cleaned more often during peak periods e.g. over Christmas and New Years.

A cheap hostel that is in a great location in Beyoglu. The owner was very friendly and eager to please, though this did not translate in looking after the ammenities. Heating was provided with oil radiators in the room which we noticed someone had switched off during the day so was very cold on our return. Despite heaters being turned off, shared bathroom was dirty on arrival and not cleaned nor bin emptied in our entire stay of four days. If you're willing to put up with some grime, it's OK.

It was snowing and the place was freezing inside too. Lights off in the lobby like a cave - one bulb screwed in over my head at breakfast. Owner stood in open doorway for cell phone reception - while it snowed! Nice guy but I couldn't make him understand how cold and uncomfortable I was. He was away in the afternoon and didn't return to turn on heat in room until midnight. I was the only guest and it felt like I "wasn't worth the electricity." Thank God for the other 7 blankets on the dorm beds.

We really enjoyed our stay at Red River Hostel. The location is excellent, within walking distance of the major sites in Istanbul, and close to the metro and ferry terminals. The hostel staff were very friendly and helpful, and went out of their way to make us feel at home. The breakfasts are a real treat too! We will definitely be staying here again on our next visit to Istanbul.

We absolutely loved our time at Red River. The men that run the place are so friendly, and they're always available to help and give information. We had a big private room with a balcony. Everything is basic, but its clean and safe. The breakfast is nice too!
