Great artsy hostel in perfect location. Staff is very nice and speaks english. It gets VERY hot in the fan rooms (and they should put some safety cages on the fans so people don't injure themselves moving them) but the air-con room is lovely and big. Would definitely stay here again!
I stayed in a 4 person room, the hostel itself was super clean and the atmosphere was relaxing. The staff was wonderful and the breakfast was great. I liked the location, it is a little off the beach but it allows an escape from the crowd and it still walking distance to everything. If I am ever back in Natal, I will be staying there!
Great place to stay i wish i could of had longer, very relaxed vibe. Only issue was a small unique problem on checkout but has been handled really well. Hopefully can come back sometime.
I can recommend this hostel, the staff is very friendly, good breakfast and internet. English is spoken and travel information is given on request. A nice bar with a wide selection of drinks makes the place a good choice for the thirsty traveller.
Generally, a very nice hostel but since we were the only guests there was not really any specific 'athmosphere'. Although the guy working there (maybe the owner) was very nice and talkative plus had great English level. Quick stay, but also very cheap and clean, so high value for money. I would go back.
This was a great hostel with really friendly staff who are always keen to help and also give out great advise on nearby activities and provide local knowledge. The breakfast was great and it is had to find better value for money in Natal
There are no major problems with Republika. It exists, has walls and a ceiling, nice employees and a small bar. The problem is that there are so many better options in the city, including one right up the street (but several blocks closer to the beach..seriously, book at albergue de costa if you can). It has some hammocks that are quite comfortable, but the rooms smell kinda bad and it always felt a little dead. You wont hate Republika, but you wont love it either. It's perfectly average.
It was a great stay and the place made us feel at home immediately. We had the opportunity to experience the awesome cooking skills of the hostel owner and received our free caipirinha on request. The dorms were nice, while the ensuite bathrooms were quite small. Three hammocks in the communal space added to the hostel's fantastic atmosphere. We would always come back!
