My stay in Residencia Oliveira was well suprising for the value for money. For 5 euro per night you can't expect luxury. For people that want to explore the city and don't care to much about their room this is great! The owner told us alot of historical things. And local things to do! The location of the hostel is next to st apolonia train station. I really liked the location, nice to walk through Alfama , it's a lovely neighboorhood :)

a liitle bit too cold, but this was winter

We had a great time at residencia Oliveira. The host was very friendly, helpful and honest. It was basic but clean, quiet, functional and very good value for money. Wealso liked that it was located directly next to the train and metro station, which also has a supermarket inside. We often bought our groceries there and cooked in the hostel on the lovely terrace upstairs. We would definately go again if happen to go back to Lisbon.

If you want a place for sleeping and bathing only, that is what looking for. I am staying in the flat next to the reception and there is no facilities at all other than the washroom. All the facility is placed in the flat of the reception. The kitchen is not fully equipped. If you want to make hot drink, bring you own kettle.

On the first night the owner tried to put us in a room in a separate building 3 doors down from the main hostel. This building was being redecorated and there was dust everywhere and strong paint fumes. We said we couldn't sleep there and he then put us in an outbuilding in the main hostel where we spent an extremely cold night. The next day we complained and he then moved us inside and gave us a heater, after that our stay was fine. The staff don't speak much English and it was generally mucky.

Well where do I start. Very peculiar building lay out, very old fashioned and old. Found out we were located in another building and when we got there it was worse. The hallways smelt like urine, the stairs slanted to the side - I felt like I was in the haunted house in Alton towers. Room was really basic. We had a plastic garden shed door which didn't reach the top of the doorway so we had a huge gap. Kitchen facilities where located on the roof Terence of the previous building- very bizarre!!?

Had a lovely stay, everyone was very helpful, Luis was very polite and helpful. Will try and visit you all next year.
