The place is nice. You have some 20-30 minutes of walk to get to the centre of the city, but you can take a bus which will take you there in a very short time. The room was clean and the staff was friendly. Every night there was a football match on the tv so a small number of guests gathered there to watch the match together. It was quite nice. Breakfast at hostel is good and not expensive, but it is the same everyday.

Villa Camacho is an honest place. You get what you pay for, and there is no fuzz about anything. Staff has at any time been polite and helpful. We had booked the cheapest possible room but never felt treated cheaply. If you don't expect luxury but appreciate decent quality, i clean and welcoming surroundings with an open and relaxed atmosfere this might just be the right place for you. It was for us and we would choose it again anytime.

The rooms in the \"villa\" are very basic, but we were offered an \"upgrade\" and got one oft the rooms of the main building with a balcony to the front with a superb view over the sea and the bay of Funchal. Rooms are small but clean, the staff is friendly and helpful, breakfast is basic and boring, however they have good meals in the hostels flame tree restaurant. The hostel is situated in a residential neighbourhood of Funchal about 15 min walk from the city centre.
