We really liked this hostel especially due to the location. Would recommend to those on a budget. Right next to the market for fresh fruit and veg. Also a very good cafe for really cheap breakfast just up the road

I strongly recommend this hostel,though is a pension, the location is perfect in front of the Mecado de los Lavradores, sometimes is a little bit noisy because of the market ( the transportist come with fruit, meat and fish early in the morning) we rent a 3 bed room for only 8€/day each one, which is unbeatable. Staff really polite

A great place for travellers like us! A perfect place to start the holiday in Madeira - to have a shower, do all necessary shopping, have a look around Funchal and go out for a meal, while the baggage is safe in the room. And the staff is very kind and extremely helpful, though just the boss speaks English. Other receptionists are, however, keen to help and call the boss for translation, if necessary. I must deffinitely recommend this hostel!

This hotel is very finely situated in Funchal. You can arrive either by your own or by bus from airport. Late or early schedule doesn't pose any problem to the reception. Staff at reception speaks not fluent english but are very kind and waiting for your satisfaction. With some spanish words or portuguese which is best, all can be done... The hotel is quite old but nicely cleaned and very simplely decorated but it is fine...A very good quality/price compromise for a couple or a family.

Cette pension était trés propre et en centre ville, proche des lieux interessants de la ville. Le personnel était souriant et serviable. j'ai beaucoup apprécié.

Nice to have a private room for so cheap; the owner is awesome and willing to help out. Helped us find buses and other things. However, we had ants one day and found a cockroach in our room another day.

I appreciated a lot my stay in the Residence Funchal. The situation is very good, with the easy access to any public transportation what is important for those who want to visit the island. The staff is always particularly kind, ready to supply you the information which you need. The only inconvenience can be the noise coming from the enviroment because of the situation of the residence just next to the market of Funchal. Many thanks to the staff of the residence :)) Joanna

I really liked this place, very close to the city center and all the bus stops of Funchal...the room is big and they clean it every day...the only problem were the ants!!, so, be careful if you take food to your room...the street is also very noisy, for me was ok cause i don't have sleep problems, but you must know!

The staff is okey and the residence is located in Mercado dos Lavradores. But in our room there were ants and the cleanliness was not so satisfying.
