The staff is very friendly and helpful, and I liked the location of my twin ensuite room -- not in the hostel/check-in building, but about halfway between the Santa Lucia train station and St. Mark's Square. It was a hassle, though, going without wifi for four days.

The heat turned off in the room at night so even with the extra blankets that were provided it got very cold...

Ladies at reception were nice enough but spoke very little English. No Wifi, Internet access only if you had your own computer. Heat not turned on until 6pm even in freezing weather. No common areas. No breakfast. Fridge and kettle only kitchen facilities. Beds rather uncomfortable. 2-3 plugs per 5-6 bed room. 3 floors, no lift. Location (on Grand Canal, near bus/train stations) good. Very expensive for what was provided.

For the price, one really can't complain. The location is great! close to the train station, vaporetto and a major street down which you can find all sorts of food and shops. The bathrooms are clean, attached to the rooms and that's really convenient, but if someone is showering, you can't use the toilet because it's all one unit. No activities within the hostel as such, no common area for socializing. To use internet you need a computer of your own. No kitchen, but hot water kettle is provided.
