Had a nice stay here. It was winter so it was slow and not many other backpackers. Alex is nice and helpful, and even walked me to the restaurant he recommended which was appreciated. Kitchen has all the basic needs and I had no problem cooking here. Wifi was good. Very close to everything, you can walk anywhere you need to go. The rooms are very basic, just the bed and one outlet for the whole room and one coat rack, so it might be a bit cramped in the summer. Bathrooms are detached but clean.

Century old Cretan household that has been welcoming travelers since the 80's. This is a place simple in accommodation but truly rich in story and soul, and this is the hardest thing to obtain. If you're will is to discuss and exchange with unique people from all around the globe, this is the place to be. It is now being operated by Alex, quite a character to whom I recommend you meet. Safe travels to you all!

I highly recommend this hostel. Everything was grear. Wash rooms are outside but it's still good. Alex, the manager, is an amazing guy and amazing cook. Be nice to him and ask him to cook. You'll be amazed. Thank you Alex for the stay.

The staff Alex was very friendly. Washroom and showers are very clean. Good location to walk around. The only thing is that the constructions on the roof started too early. Overall a good stay. Next time would stay more than just one night.

The hostel was really nice. You have to pay an extra euro for top sheets, but towels are free, so it evens out. I stayed in an all-female dorm, and it was clean, comfortable, and the other women were friendly and polite. Breakfast was good, although the menu didn't match what was actually available. I would definitely stay here again.

Located in the heart of Rethimno, which is perfect for making day trips to Chania and Heraklion. The satff is amazing - Ivan and Chris are great, great guys. I was aware that the bathrooms were located in a separate building, and that there were only 3 plugs per room, so I won't let that diminish my rating. It's a great place to stay to meet like-minded travellers, and the value for money is incredible.

Such a sweet place with lovely lovely vibes. How a hostel should be! Chris and Ivan are the best, the location is great right in the old town, it has a sweet balcony where everyone hangs out. I would love to come back sometime!

Rethymno Hostel is a very cool place. You will meet a lot of nice people, relaxing atmosphere and nice music. People from the staff are vey nice and clever, they are easy going but they can also keep the rules at a good level. the bathroom and commodities are always clean, they wash them at least 3 times a day. Room are nice enough for the price you are paying. Wi fi works very well. Cheap prices for water, coffee or little meals youcan cook cause the kitchen is well equpped. Bye Ivan!

The hostel is well located in the old town , but in a quiet street and easy to find. The atmosphere was very relaxed and I met nice travelleres there. The area downstairs is new renovated (including the sanitary facilities) and looks nice. The area upstairs would need the same procedure. I was a little annoyed to pay for the linen 1,00€ extra. If you need a tailor, next door there a shop where an old lady does her job very well

Alex and Stefan are wonderful people! They maintain a very relaxed and fun atmosphere and are very knowlegable about activities all over Crete. Arriving to the Herklion port, it is an €8.30 1.5 hour bus ride to Rethymno (definitely would not want to stay in Herklion) which is a lovely place with tons of shops, restaurants, grocery stores, beaches etc. And the hostel is a few minutes walk from the bus stop. Only thing that wasn't ideal is that the bathrooms and showers are located outside.
