We had a great stay at this hostel. It was quiet and relaxing, there were plenty of shops within walking distance and a nice beach down the road. The highlights are the hiking paths nearby; one takes you around the Lagoa to a freshwater pool under a waterfall and another takes you do a secluded beach.
I've been travelling alone. Thankfully, all the staff were very friendly and helpful - they really made me feel welcome and included. Very relaxed and sociable atmosphere. And a cute bulldog that sticks it's tongue out when it sleeps, lol. It also has an excellent location - bus stop right out the front, and a short walk to some very nice beaches. I'm going to try and make another visit - highly recommended!
Lovely relaxed stay, we booked an extra night it was so good. Excellent location for 3 beaches, 2 supermarkets, lagoon, walks and restaurants. Buses stop just opposite the hostel for access to the rest of the island. Recently re-elected and Logan is working hard to get it ready for busy summer. Plenty of nice places to sit and relax inside and out. Inside and outside kitchen areas although inside only available when we were there. Swimming pool as well but we didn't have time to try it out.
We had a great stay at Retro House Hostel. It's conveniently located, only a short walk to Matadeiro beach and the start of the stunning trek to the idyllic Lagoina do Leste beach. The bus stop is right opposite so you can easily get around the Island. The decor of the hostel is tastefully quirky, and Logan, the new owner, is wonderfully hospitable. Logan was just finishing the renovations and has some great ideas for the hostel.
