I couldn't have been more pleased with my stay here. I arrived earlier than check-in time but was still able to pay and store my luggage until whenever worked for me. Then and after check-in, Jon at the front desk answered so many of my questions and gave me a map of the city marked with lots of key sites and places in town to check out. Also, after leaving my SD card and a ring behind, the hostel contacted me about returning it promptly. Awesome place, I would highly recommend it to anyone :)

It's a good hostel - great staff and really nice atmosphere. There's a bar downstairs, where they have free beer tasting every day which was fun:) If you sleep on the first floor it can be quite noisy because of the loud music downstairs (I think there's a club next door), but other than that - really great.

A fine hostel for the money. There was not particular clean in the baths. Otherwise a very decent hostel. Good location, friendly and helpful staff, good atmosphere and a very cozy bar and reception.

We were so busy travelling around and coming back late we only saw our bedroom and the bathroom. We liked our first night so much (and found a sneaky parking space round the side) that we cancelled our second hostel and booked two more nights, which the hostel gave us keys up-front for so that we could come back as late as we wanted. Really clean, no hidden costs (unlike our cancelled hostel which would have charged us for blankets!). Central. Fine.

The Backpackers is a great hostel! Maybe the friendliest staff I've met in a hostel, excellent location, a great bar downstairs which offers a great happy hour deal and where you are able to easily interact with other backpackers and locals! Highly recommended.

It was snowing the night before as it seem from the airport, but the staff gave us such a warm welcome. They informed us what we needed to know about the hostel, city and the country, which was nice. We had arrived early, so we could not check in but one of the staff told us some place to visit before that time which was great.

Our room was too small for six people and we cannot even put all 6 backpacks on the ground without blocking the road. Kitchen is too small and is lack of equipment such as oil. Wifi only available on the first two floors but not on the third and forth floors. Staff are so nice to answer any questions about our trip planning.

It was OK. The staff were nice. We stayed when the bar was still being re-done, which meant there wasn't a central social area to meet people

I had asked for blankets ( and paid for them as well) but they were not brought to our room Felt cold during the night ( as the staff had left from the counter at 11pm. I came back at 12)

I understand that things can be chaotic when having construction work done, however I don't think enough was done to recoup for this... We arrived at the hostel having spent two nights in their Akureyri hostel. The contrast was quite a shock, we didn't really feel as though we were warmly welcomed either.

Perfect location for exploring the city. Plenty of shower and bathroom facilities but due to refurbishment not much social space aside from dorm rooms. Friendly staff on arrival. Not too expensive in comparison to other accommodation.

Just to warn folks their bar/cafe area is under construction but is expected to be finished soon. There facility overview also mentioned an outside terrace-I am not sure what it is referring to... That all being said this is the BEST PLACE YOU CAN STAY AT in Reykavik if you want to be near the fun.

It is a pretty convenient and clean hostel. But something I want to warn the others is that there is always someone stealing food from the common fridge. So dont put something directly eatable in it .

Reykjavik Backpackers is currently under improvement so the bar area is not accessible which lowers the overall experience a bit. But still in the center of the town with nice staff and real good value.

I was staying there at possibly the worst time - the lobby was under construction, therefore there wasn't any place to hang out and meet other people (other than the kitchen). There was also no WiFi. Despite that, Backpackers was still good value for the money invested. The location is ideal, it's clean and the security is dependable. While I wouldn't suggest a week-long stay here, a couple nights is perfect. I expect that, when the lobby is all fixed up and new, this place will be a boomin'!
