I had a great stay at the Backpackers Hostel. The location and staff were both great!

* Choose another Hostel in the the same area * No wifi in rooms as advertised * Building lock and Room locks both half-broken * Locks and old building make it incredibly noisy * No breakfast as advertised because quote "We've run out of milk" * Rearranged the beds in the room to locate them near to the charging plugs * Staff were cold and unfriendly but efficient * No hooks or hangers in room * Good selection of brochures

Good location but no warning that you have to pay for a duvet, even for just one night. Toilet was blocked and the conditions of the alternatives were disgusting. Overbooked our room so there were 9 people in an 8 person dorm. Grumpy and sarcastic check in man.

Great party hostel in heart of RVK. Next time will stay there for sure as well!!!

Staff was lovely and location was wonderful! Downsides: wifi only worked on the 1st floor, and keycard door locks kept breaking.

I went there for the airwaves looking for fellow music followers and it turns out to be the perfect place for that, great atmosphere and a very helpful and friendly staff

I stayed With Reykjavik Backpackers for one night and really found a liking for the place. The staff was very helpful and friendly and the athmosphere was chill. I got a room in the backyard, which was perfectly quiet while still smack in the middle of the city. I'd go again

Clean, comfortable, friendly, tho maybe more toilets/showers would be good, tho I didn't have to wait long. Stayed on 4th floor, summertime.

6 person Rooms are a little crowded and showers smell rank, but other than that, great! Also lockers under the beds would be nice

Good location. Front desk is in the public bar on the ground floor so not your typical backpackers. I got a nice private room in the back of the building so it was really quiet at night which was good. They organised some good tours for me. I would recommend this place.

A central location in Rejkjavik, the noise from bars and clubs can be disturbing during nighttime. Otherwise a good place to stay with a friendly atmosphere!

The hostel is a party house, staff were blase, no lockers in rooms, has a self catering kitchen but no microwave. I booked out part way through my stay and staff were happy to give me a refund on the balance of money paid. Bit of a mixed bag. Pretty much in the centre of down-town Reykjavik.

This is a hostel that's about a 10 minute walk into the core tour area. It's on a pedestrian-only street so tour busses cannot drop-off or pick-up in this location (you have to walk). They advertise they have laundry services on this site, but they do not. To do laundry is a 10 minute walk to the Laundromat Cafe. The kitchen is too small to socialize in (seats 5 people). The common areas are also that small, so no one congregates there. Instead, the bar is where people are and it's not cheap.

Location is excellent. Very noisy fri/sat night but that's to be expected given it's location, just don't go to bed until late! Yes you have to pay for lockers and linen but it's Iceland, everything is expensive, but it's such a great country that it's worth it.

We arrived very early in the morning (six hours before check in time) and were so lucky (and so grateful!!) to get into our private room right away. Staff are very helpful and friendly. My one suggestion would be to put hooks in the wall in the private rooms. There is no space (closet/drawers) to store your stuff, which really isn't that much of a problem for short stays, but it would be nice to hang up wet towels to dry before packing!

Very nice place but the wi-fi did not work at all in the hostel. Had to go down to the bar and sit.

I only stayed for a night and arrived late. The location is great and there is a cool bar underneath, the hostel itself though is fairly drab and the dorms are quite crowded.

Nice location on the main street, but the biggest drawback was after paying for the room, you'll find basic things aren't included. You have to pay to rent lockers and you have to pay to get a blanket on your bed. There is only one maybe 2 outlets in the room for 3-4 bunkbeds of people. First hostel I have stayed in where the room included a bed but not sheets. Other than that small annoyance though, everything else was nice about the hostel.

Everything in Reykjavik is expensive but here you are paying for the ideal location! The kitchen facilities are lacking but there are plenty of bathrooms and showers and a lounge on every floor. The staff are very friendly!
