Everything was excellent, except blanket which you have to pay extra :(
A great place to stay, clean and warm and centrally located. Staff extremely helpful and friendly. I will definately return to this hostel again.

I remembered this hostel from last year as being a lively, fun place. This year the only positive things about it were its location and the friendliness of some of the receptionists. Otherwise it needs serious refurbishing (think kitchen, bedrooms), second floor shower had missing/broken lock, etc. And it was expensive.
Love this place even more since their renovation. Great location and very clean. Skip the breakfast in Bunk and go to KEX for their tasty breakfast.
We had a great time at the backpackers! If you're looking for a place to meet people, this is it, there are always people milling about and everyone is super welcoming. We stayed off season and the staff included our linens for free, were always very helpful with suggestions. The fourth floor bathrooms could do with an update and a few hooks, but the ones on the other floors are nice, and the kitchen was well stocked with cutlery and things. I would definitely stay again!
Great staff, couldn't have been more helpful. Really enjoyed our stay. Fantastic location
We wanted to be right downtown and in the mix of the night time activities so this was perfect location. We were aware it would be noisy at night so nothing caught us off guard. It felt completely safe, great location. bar downstairs. Highly recommend. If you want to stay in a cute quite side of Reykjavik do not stay here. But we loved it.
Good spot, right on one of the main streets. Very knowledgable and helpful staff, booked a day trip to the golden circle for me. Bar attached with two-for-one beer during happy hour.
Phenomenal place for backpack tourists with everything you need at an affordable price with complete help with booking of all your other attractions around. Visitors from all over the world, great hostel, great people and great country btw.

The reception staff were great and friendly, and refunded my deposit via card as we missed the details on early check out. We were staying in the guesthouse behind the main hostel. This had the potential to be amazing, but unfortunately the rooms weren't cleaned, dirty linen, dust everywhere, the shower blocked up, the key took some practice and the room had a giant space we used mostly for our luggage - a bar fridge and some patio furniture for 2 would make it really good value for money.
I enjoyed my stay in Iceland very much. However I thought that the showers needed a good scrub so did the kitchen, it was the worst kitchen I have cooked in a long while. The staff could be a bit friendlier, sometimes they were not very helpful. We also had to move rooms mid stay due to a cock up. However excellent location and a good happy hour.
Hostel was in a great location and the staff could not have been more helpful. The only issue we had was that the showers and toilets were not cleaned every day, and the showers got very dirty by late afternoon!! Otherwise I would recommend the hostel to anyone staying in Rek.
This was one of the best hostels I've stayed at. The location is ideal. Having a bar right down stairs was perfect for morning coffee and then a drink to start or finish. Plenty of comfortable spots to chill and read or check Internet. They make it super easy to book tours and transportation also. Availability of cold beverages at front desk 24 hrs. I never had to wait for shower or toilet. Restaurant downstairs is really nice but a little pricey for what you get. Overall, I highly recommend!
the dirtiest Hostel we've ever been. neither bath nor kitchen have been cleaned during our 4-days-stay. the bar is really nice and the staff was helpful.
The hostel is fine and the rooms are small but clean. The only bad part about staying here is the kitchen. It is tiny and very messy. Plus, it is not well stocked with dishes/cookware so you have to improvise. Otherwise, it is decent value for the money to pay. You are right in the center of things and it is easy to get to and from. I would recommend for short stays (2-3 nights).
Stayed only for one night, but the location was great and we also got a free upgrade from dorm to twinroom, that was nice. Lots of travellers, so a very good atmosphere. Very helpful staff and room were clean. Would stay again.
lively bar....almost too much so. trying to sleep on a weeknight with drunk ppl outdoors can be tough. otherwise, very central location. great value....compared to the rest of Iceland which is obscenely overpriced.
As far as hostels go, this is clean, centrally located, and decently equipped. However, when comparing value for money, I think some of the guesthouses in the city are equally as nice but you get the added bonus of having breakfast included and more privacy. So I'm not sure this would be my first choice when staying in Reykjavik!
Excellent location, clean rooms and hot clean showers, and you can conveniently book tours/activities - everything a traveller in Reykjavik needs! It gets a bit noisy outside but that is the tradeoff when you are in the centre with all the happening bars and pubs, but didn't bother me too much. Recommend!
Showers were a bit yucky - hair etc on the shower floor. But other than that the hostel is AMAZING. I forgot to bring flip flops - had I remembered them the shower floor would not have bothered me anyway :)
