I've not stayed at many hostels before, but Reykjavik Backpackers is BY FAR THE BEST I've ever stayed at. The staff is incredibly helpful and fun, the hostel itself is in top shape and very clean, and the location is right in the heart of Reykjavik. Yes, on weekend nights it's a little noisy - but didn't you come to Reykjavik to enjoy the nightlife? My friends and I were upgraded to a 4-person room, which was small, but very comfortable. Everything about this place is great - Backpackers rocks.

This hostel is excellently located in the heart of Reykjavik's main shopping area. I had an wonderful time here, mainly because everyone staying at the hostel was so friendly and socialable. The staff had a great sense of humor and were very welcoming -- the hostel is also pretty clean and there are plenty of shower spaces in the morning. Overall, Reykjavik Backpackers is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to stay in Reykjavik on a budget.

Excellent hostel--cheap and in a fantastic central location. Amazing staff, good vibe. Wifi only reaches to the second floor, but that's no big deal. I had a great time here.

A great location, but a little noisy due to a nearby nightclub - so not great if you want an early night! Good atmosphere in the lounge/bar area.

Sometimes understaffed with one person attending both the bar and the front desk, but its a very nice and hip hostel

Great location, helpful staff and great entertainment. Wifi didn't reach 4th floor and beds a little uncomfy but would stay again.

Great location. Very friendly, helpful staff who were able to book us on local tours and change our room light bulbs very promptly when they went out. Kitchen fridge was very dirty/smelly to the point where I could not use it. A mirror in the room would be very handy to have.

Great location and very helpful staff. Lockers in the rooms would make it perfect.

Very nice hostel and quite cheap as well. The staff is extremely friendly and helps you whenever they can. You can book tours directly at the counter and ask them for ideas on where to go. The hostel also has their own evening activities every day. As the hostel is directly on the main street it can get louder in the evening, even with closed windows. The breakfast buffet is the only point of criticism, it just consists of buns with cheese and ham with tea or coffee and some vanilla-strudel.

The double decker bed was very rickety. Any slight movement of the body resonated a loud creak.

This was my second trip to Iceland, and I didn\'t think it was possible, but this trip far exceeded that of the first. Reykjavik Backpackers was largely responsible for the awesome time I had. The staff were very helpful in making me feel comfortable and helping me plan my daily excursions, especially Johnny, who suggested museums, arranged a car rental, and threw a pretty good trivia game night. I hope to be back someday, sooner rather than later. Thanks for a great time, Reykjavik Backpackers!

Excellent hostel for party of 2 (mixed), used for an over-night stay with the Reykjavik layover. Staff was excellent and very helpful with luggage, suggestions for the city, booking bus reservations, printing flight confirmations, etc. Luggage storage was secure, breakfast was standard, and price was very reasonable. Would recommend for a similar stay!

was in a great location to look around the city and book tours from. nice and warm but some of the lights in the bathrooms didnt work and you need earplugs to block out some of the noise from the nightclub. the kitchen was handy and i had some trouble with the outside gate after hours, comfortable and conveniant.

I stayed four nights. The hostel ticks most boxes, and is a decent place to sleep between day trips and busy activities. Pluses: recycling throughout the hostel, great location on main street and close to supermarket and bars, cheap drinks, kitchen is small with a nice view. Downsides: beds are basic, there are no lockers or storage in the rooms, you have to pay for duvet separately (800kr for the stay?), Wi-Fi is not consistent. A good place to stay for early tour departures from Reykjavik
