Nice staff. I love welcome drink. There's always a surprise living in hosstels. You can meet amazing people there. I'm so satisfied to live in backpackers in such price.

This hostel will be great...when its finished!!! Spent the whole time stepping over tools, plywood and cables as they were renovating the reception. Also no communal area other than a few sofas in corridors but I was told they will be adding one somewhere. Felt like there was no one else there half the time. On the plus side the location is great, the staff very helpful and friendly and clean throughout. Charging for bed linen is scandalous in a country with the climate of Iceland!

The room was good and clean as were the toilets and showers. The kitchen facilities were poor. Small, with old equipment. These need upgrading. Dining seating for just 5 people in hostel that sleeps around 50 isn't really good enough.

Wifi access only in the hostel's lounge, which closes every evening quite early - inconvenient.

If you have early flight be sure to check out the night before. Nobody form the staff told us that so we couldn't get our deposits back.

Great location and great accessibility for all tour coaches. Friendly environment, really liked easy music they played at the reception. Just reception and bar area were under reconstruction when I was staying there and this caused some discruption for tour booking etc. But I believe now hostel looks even more cool, should I come back to Iceland I would stay at Backpackers hostel again :)

It was great! The staff were friendly and helpful, and I would definitely stay there again! Recommended for those who'd like to meet new friends! The only downside was my food getting stolen from the kitchen, even though I marked the bag with my name and check-out date.

Nice hostel in a great location. Good value for money. Do bear in mind that you have to hire a duvet, but I think that is the same for most hostels in Reykjavik.

Had a great stay, the staff are definitely some of the best ever ! Very helpful. If you plan to arrive late though make sure they know so that you know the codes to get in- somehow the email I was supposed to get never got to me so I had a little trouble finding how to enter !

Would definitely recommend this hostel! Nice bar with free wifi downstairs, helpful staff, good kitchen, clean rooms, perfect location in centre of town, met some lovely people. What more can you ask for? Stay here and you wont regret it :-)

The staff was not very nice nor helpful - they did book our golden circle tour, but that was pretty much it. When we asked advice on where we could eat some Icelandic food, they didn't know what to tell us. There's only one computer and it's very slow, plus the wifi works only in the communal area. Apart from that, it's a nice hostel. The bar has different activities every night and the rooms are comfortable. It's not very quite, but it's right in the middle of the high street.

This place was at a great location, right in the middle of downtown area, close to the bars and restaurants. The staff was very helpful in helping informing us of good local restaurants and giving the ddown low on the best things go do. Bathrooms were kept clean. Rooms were clean, overall quality was good for what u pay for. We were in a 2bed private on the fourth floor. The only complaint I have was the construction going on at the time that left lots of noise and lights while we were sleeping.

I had a great time at Reykjavik Backpakers, the staff were extremely helpful in recommending places to see, restaurants to eat at and booking tours (we even got free linen and towels as we booked several tours through the hostel). With the welcome drink and bar there was somewhere to meet and socialise with other travellers and breakfast was a great option for travellers up early to do a tour. The only thing that could improve are lockers in the rooms :)

Well run, clean facilities, helpful staff and excellent location in the heart of downtown. My experience was an excellent one, I would stay there again without a doubt.

It is well located, my only complaint is: they rent duvets!!! It's a bit too much considering that the hostel is in Iceland for Christ sake! The need of a duvet is not an option! Shame on them!!

Owner Comment (Show)
Dear guest, I'd like to thank you for the stay. Reykjavik Backpackers is a hostel, a sleeping bag accommodation, so most guests bring their own sleeping bags. Like all other hostels in Iceland, we offer those who don't have a sleeping bag a warm duvet for rent. We keep it a minimum price, and only one fee for the entire stay. We hope to see you again in the future. Happy travels! Litli Jón - Reception Manager
