It was a good hostel except for the grumpy english owner. I would much prefer to support a locally run hostel than the old English woman running this one. She was quite rude and didn't always answer the door. Don't even think about asking if guests can use the kitchen. The answer will be simple. No!

Riad Baraka is located in the centre of Chefchaouens medina, a couple of minutes walking from main square, in a really beautiful area. You may have some problems with finding Riad among all of these twisting pathways and corridors, but be careful when you ask locals for help - they will lead you to Riad, but they will require some money, be prepared for that. Staff is really friendly, always helpful when needed. Hostel has a really nice design, fitted into Chefchaouens pattern. Recommend!

We LOVED this place!!!! Recommended for all!! The staff is absolutely amazing- shout out to Abdul! They are a lot of fun to hang out with, they offer tons of help with all kinds of things, and they really make you feel at home. The hostel is small so it's nice and cozy, and the location is great because you are a short walk away from the main square. They also continuously offer you delicious tea and may occasionally cook for you- they made us yummy couscous! BEST hostel experience by far.

Lets start with the Positives: The location is good and the prices are okay. Its doesn't include breakfast but for 35DH you get a lovely porridge. The staff (apart from owner) are great and usually have a smile on their faces (when owner not around) Negatives: The Owner! from early in the morning you can hear you yelling, talking, singing.. The place isnt large and the sound goes very where. She is rude to her staff and guests. she talks down to you when you talk to her!

This is a great hostel. Superb atmosphere with great backpacker vibe, clean and well run. Toby was an Angel with helping guests. I wish we had have stayed longer because the town is nice and relaxing and the hostel very comfortable. Good beds too.

Tough up beat- great staff, well decorated and clean rooms, smaller but welcoming common area, amazing rooftop, etc. If breakfast was included... And can use few more showers... Otherwise perfect.

This is a sort of Western standard hostel (or even better) which is clearly an exception for Moroccan standards. Having spent 2 weeks in the country this was a great peaceful and clean oasis. We had a very good experience despite the comments that we previously read about the owner (She is a bit harsh with the staff but maybe just clumsy). The staff was very helpful both the local and German guys. Thanks for your hospitality and good infrastructure.

Totally fantastic! Best staff of any hostel I've ever been to, beautiful terrace, well-located, etc. Couldn't ask for more. I was here for Christmas, and for a country that doesn't celebrate the day, they did a great job of recognizing its importance for all of those hostelers who do celebrate (e.g., a tree, decorations, Christmas music, and one of the staff dressed adorably as Santa)! 10/10.

Super annoying that the cleaning crew blasted music first thing in the morning next to my bed:( only one toilet and such a small space, my knees hit the door and I'm short:( the showers were cold and no where to change so you basically have to walk through the hostel down the stairs in a towel and change in the tiny dorm rooms. They were so small my bed touched my neighbors and nowhere to hang anything. The outdoor space was nice but always crowded. Staff couldn't tell me bus schedules!

The nicest staff you could ask for, in a cozy and beautifully decorated building. Appreciated access to a computer (in this age of bring-your-own devices).

There was a miscommunication between the hostel and hostelworld.com. The younger boy and the man were very helpful in finding my friends and I other lodging for the night because our reservation had been cancelled completely (even though in hostelworld it said we had a reservation) and there were no open rooms. Although the hotel they found for us was miserably cold and was 300 MAD more expensive/night, it was a nice gesture. Also, the older woman was really cold and stand-offish toward guests!

It's simply the best Riad in Chaouen. Do not hesitate it! Even people who were staying somewhere else used to spend their time off at our hostel, because the atmosphere is just perfect. Full of people coming from everywhere in the world, a whole variety of nationalities and ages. Perfect combination between the beauty of an ancient muslim building and the attention to the detail of the owner, a very nice british woman. The best: atmosphere, location, staff! LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!
