Really simple hostel, you get what you pay for. No atmosphere at all - you could hardly hear "Hi!" from the people you meet there. The hostel has a rule to take off shoes entering the hostel, but the floor is extremely cold. Some guests stay in their street shoes indoors, and he staff doesn't care. Not enough hot water in the shower for everyone staying at the hostel. Walls in the showers were almost empty, no place to hang clothes, towels and other stuff. A bit sad place...
I spent one night in the Japanese room around New Year's Eve. The hostel is quiet and the rooms very original and well-taken care of. The personnel is friendly and quite helpful. Big minus: the hostel is on top of a high building with no elevator :(. Also, the night I arrived there was no warm water because of some problem with the heater. It was fixed the next morning, but it was still far from ideal, specially at the beginning of January!!
too difficult to get in - there is the last floor with no lift. our room was ready later than expected. but personal was extremely friendly and helpful, anyway. also, rooms are held very clean and hostel design looks great.
Location is pretty close to central bus and train station, but some 10-12min walking from the old city. The rooms and facilities were clean, kitchen is well equipped. But: Olny two showers and two toilets for the whole hostel (there is a third shower/toilet, but the key was missing and nobody bothered to replace it). Staff was really nice, but not always very helpful. All in all it's a nice and clean place that really tries but create a homely atmosphere, but doesn't really succeed.
