The room that we stay has a very strong smell of mold. It was a private room and it has no shutter at the big window, that opens to the social area of the hostel. In this area, it has also a lamp that stays on all the night. The photos at the site don't show the real ambience and the maintenance state. It really not worth the price that is charged.

Good location, nice staff, excllent views, good breakfast, plus the stairs provide the additional work out.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hostel, especially the breakfast at the terrace, views, plants and the cute monkeys (our personal Rio highlight). While the facilities are average, we felt the hostel was great value for money.

Very pleasant stay even thoug there is over 100 steps to get to hostel. The monkeys coming to visit were the special bonus in the mornings. The place would benefit from more washrooms. T The best location - close to everywhere but away from busy streets for people who love nature and quiet. I will recommend 100%.

One of the dorms is nice, but not enough lockers. The other is unsafe. The ceiling leaked onto my bed so the room was moved around. The leak was right next to an electrical socket which was hanging out of the wall but still working. The ceiling fan was repaired using a plastic bottle as a gutter to stop the water from a separate leak from short circuiting the fan. This sprayed over the room regularly. There were also cockroaches around the leaky dorm. The kitchen is ok. Breakfast is good.

I really enjoyed my stay at Rio Nature Hostel. It was beautiful! You would pay so much for a view like theirs in a hotel! We stayed in the 12 person dorm and had plenty of space, although it got a bit hot at night. Also more bathrooms would be nice. But brekkie, kitchen, internet, showers, staff, location, and balcony were all excellent. Can't go wrong here at only R$25/night!

The filter that cleans the tap water is not working properly! Health hazard!!. Here, the owner in order not to spentdone cent, lets staff collect the water that (literally) drops from the filter into old mineral water bottles that are stored in the frigde. They do not issue a valid receipt "nota fiscal" O filtro de agua nao funciona!!!!!! A agua pinga lentamente e é recolhida pelos simpaticos funcionarios que depois a colocam no frigorifico. Nao passa nota fiscal carioca.

good price. good neighborhood (botafogo). next to beaches, supermarket, shopping, bars nice place for chilling, with all the nature, trees and little monkeys. staff was ok, I guess. downside was: dirty bathrooms with some cockroaches, small lockers and the infamous 170-something stair steps to reach the place.

The location is good in terms of near to the beach but carrying the backpack up all those stairs was not a fun thing. Overall the hostel is pretty nice to stay, could have done with some aircon however. Was lovely having breakfast with the monkeys also

We didn't mind the stairs as like to keep fit but they are a bit of a challenge so be warned! Breakfast was good, Daniel the main staff memeber we interacted with was a great help and we sorted all the tours out through him. A football game and visiting the favella is a must! Kitchen was ok but try and cook at a non busy time as gets rammed! Rooms were quite hot but fan helped. Worst thing was that there were only 2 bathrooms so many mornings had to wait ages for a wee!! Overall had a good stay.

This hostel is very good located and the stuff is very friendly. They offer a good breakfast and free internet. Could be a bit cleaner but still I would really recommend it to others!

The breakfast was very nice with fruit, ham, cheese. Wifi is available but somewhere was poor. There are only 2 toilets for everyone in dorms. Quite far from the beaches. But the price tell me. It's very good value.

The hostel has a great view but u have to take 150 stairs in return. Nice place and very good breakfest with fresh fruit and bread. Just do it.

Good view, it was worth the steps. Did not enjoy the cockroaches in the shower though. Also, the monkeys around were really sweet and we could feed them with fruit. Make sure you pay the amount youve booked it for!

ok - nice view but.. to walk to the beaches is quite far (more than 15 min) and not easy. Staff not always friendly (except Daniel - cool guy!) Rooms are too hot cause there is no air around (the nature..) I recommend to take a hostel near cococabana or ipanema

this is a really cool hostel. it's different than other hostels in rio because it really does feel 'away from it all' even though it's only a 5 min walk from the shopping mall. highly recommended
