I found the staff extrememly helpful with advice, directions and helping out to find services. The location was walking distance to Sugar Loaf Mountain, and a cheap cab ride or easy bus and metro access to the main beaches and other attractions The breakfast was nice The rooms were divided into two sections of the hostel, so as many people that stayed there I thought it lacked a good social scene. Despite a large common area with tv, music, tables and kitchen use Internet is for a charge

Great place!! The staff is excellent, very helpful and very nice. Clean rooms and clean bathrooms. Excellent location, 5 min walk from the metro that is a combo between 2 lines. Easy to get to the beaches and downtown.

The two females that worked at reception were very helpful, but some of the other staff members, not so much. The private suite was quite nice (better than we expected) but the common rooms need some work. The breakfast was not great and the "silence" rule after a certain time was never followed and it was always the staff partying and being loud all night, not the guests. The reception had a very weird vibe, but we liked the room and location beside the mall and metro.

Very helpful, nice personnel. Free Wi-Fi available only at the main lobby. Space a bit cramped, I was forced to invent very exotic installations for drying my closes. Safe neighbourhood. Good strategic placement: between Copa and Lapa, close to all other attractions. Very cheap as for Rio.

The hostel itself is not very interesting, but it is clean, cheap and a good location right next to the metro and buses (just 5 min in metro from Copacabana beach and 15 min in bus from Christ and Sugar Loaf). The staff is friendly, but the hostel has a serious lack of tourist information; they don't even have a map to give to you - the only have one on the wall. Don't choose the dorm on the 1st floor with the red door: it is dark and crowded. The other dorms are fine.

They only turn on the AC at 22h and during the day the rooms and bathroom seem saunas. I suggest the installation of vans. The hostel does not have a place to wash and dry your bikini. Rio is a beach city. It is not good to dry beach clothes in the room. It smells.

Hostel is new so several things are not present...Some important things missing were: 1. No garbage comtainers in the male restroom under the sinks and in dorms 2. No kitchen or fridge for guests to use 3. Urinal is not finished being constructed so only 2 toilets are available The bunkbeds were stacked in 3's, not in 2's (which I didn't like). On the positive the staff was nice and helpful. And hostel is conveniently located near Metro spot (1 spot from Copacabana).

A lot of the facilities listed on here weren't even available. I understand that the hostel had only been open for a month but if facilities are listed they should be available. It was false advertising and extremely misleading. I also believe that the previous reviews on here for the hostel have been submitted by individuals connected with the hostel due to the wording and phrases that are used.

Great hostel, great staff, they are new in the business and everything is brand new inside, the house is an old house but all renovated. I went to the beach most of the time and had to take the metro, which was very close. For dinner I used the shopping mall 50 metres away from the hostel. Breakfast was fair for the price I paid. Bed was comfortable. Great job guys!

3 nights, great experience, Rio is excellent to visit. About the hostel, I arrived and had an excellent reception, the staff took me to my room and were polite. The room was clean and cozy. The bathrooms were clean and spacious. The breakfast was as expected, they offer what you need. In the end, it was good value for money!!

It had a great stay at Rio Soul hostel, they are just starting the business and pampered me well, informing me about touristic attractions, how to get to the metro, which is literally 50 metres away and 10 minutos away from the beach. There is also a shopping mall nearby that served me really well. The bathrooms were clean and spacious.
