It is a great place for the location, friendly staff and mostly comfortable. Toilettes could be cleaner and the air conditioner only at night is hard to cope with.

Great location and friendly staff, not a great atmosphere but I definitely noticed changes during my stay to change this. I would stay here again :)

The room was too small. Three floor beds is too much.

The staff was so friendly and helpful and the hostel is within walking distance of most of what we wanted to do and see!

We had a great stay at rio soul, the staff were extremely helpful and ready to please and we received a very warm welcome. Other people at the hostel were very friendly too. Was easy enough getting from the hostel to the beaches and it's right across the road from botafogo bay (wouldn't recommend swimming in it) travelling to Christo redemptor and sugar loaf was easy too, just a bus ride away.

We loved our stay in Rio Soul. Though we had a problem with our check-in (we arrived close to 16:00, two hours after check-in time, and our room was still being made ready), we talked to the staff and they made it up to us by letting us check-out at a later hour when we left, since there were no guests programmed to check in. The bedroom we stayed in (a triple room, with a private bathroom) was great, though the bathroom was a little cramped. The location of the hostel was perfect.

If you want something cheap and relatively good located, this is the place! But if you care for cleanliness and politely and well related staff, you will not enjoy this place!

Male bathroom was broken, so everybody had to share the female bathroom. Not well cleaned. The staff werent very helpful and nice. Good location and security.

this is nearly a perfect hostel in the Southest part of Rio. Its location is close to everywhere you would like to go. Two things that are worth noting are the staff and the information provided there can definitely tailor your needs. One last thing, if there are more bicycles available for using, rio soul would become the dream house for every traveller. btw, please remember to stick the money of your country on the wall of their lobby. It is so funny to see the collection lol.

I found the staff extrememly helpful with advice, directions and helping out to find services. The location was walking distance to Sugar Loaf Mountain, and a cheap cab ride or easy bus and metro access to the main beaches and other attractions The breakfast was nice The rooms were divided into two sections of the hostel, so as many people that stayed there I thought it lacked a good social scene. Despite a large common area with tv, music, tables and kitchen use Internet is for a charge

Rio Soul situated in Botafogo is a good location only 10-15 min to all the main attractions in all directions. The owners and staff are amazing, they were so friendly and willing to help you with everything you need. The room i was in was a bit squishy but had air-conditioning The atmosphere of the hostel was great with good common area on the ground floor flat screen TV to watch Football. Security was also very good and Botafogo is a safe neighbourhood. I highly recommend staying here

Great place!! The staff is excellent, very helpful and very nice. Clean rooms and clean bathrooms. Excellent location, 5 min walk from the metro that is a combo between 2 lines. Easy to get to the beaches and downtown.

The two females that worked at reception were very helpful, but some of the other staff members, not so much. The private suite was quite nice (better than we expected) but the common rooms need some work. The breakfast was not great and the "silence" rule after a certain time was never followed and it was always the staff partying and being loud all night, not the guests. The reception had a very weird vibe, but we liked the room and location beside the mall and metro.

Cool i like it

Very helpful, nice personnel. Free Wi-Fi available only at the main lobby. Space a bit cramped, I was forced to invent very exotic installations for drying my closes. Safe neighbourhood. Good strategic placement: between Copa and Lapa, close to all other attractions. Very cheap as for Rio.

The hostel itself is not very interesting, but it is clean, cheap and a good location right next to the metro and buses (just 5 min in metro from Copacabana beach and 15 min in bus from Christ and Sugar Loaf). The staff is friendly, but the hostel has a serious lack of tourist information; they don't even have a map to give to you - the only have one on the wall. Don't choose the dorm on the 1st floor with the red door: it is dark and crowded. The other dorms are fine.
