The hostel is about 5 mins walk from Clark Quay MRT station and overall is pretty good. Only one thing that disappoint us that we arrived at the hostel around 8am just wanna leave our stuff and take a shower, but staff seems angry that we woke her up to open the door for us and after that she never speak with us anymore.

Owner Comment (Hide)
It is stated clearly in the terms and conditions that the check in time is from 2-11pm daily. Out of good will, we allow our cleaners to open the door for guests who wish to leave their luggage after 7am. It is not the duty of our cleaners to entertain nor take the initiative to speak with guests unless they require help. Our receptionist will come at 9am and she will attend to guests whenever they have inquiries.

We really liked our stay at the hostel. Not only the location was great, but also the staff incredibly nice. The hostel was clean at all times, we felt secure and the price was great. We especially liked that on the day of our check-out, we could store our luggage for free the whole day and that we could have a shower before going to the airport. Singapore's a great city and the River City Inn a great place for exploring it :).

Facilities, staff, and security are great. The hostel is in a good location near Chinatown. My only complaint was that the atmosphere was not very welcoming. It may have just been the weekend I was there but there was a group of Chinese tourists who were extremely rude and locked me out of my room at 3AM, which I wasn't too happy about. It's a very quiet place, so don't stay here if you're looking to party in Singapore.

The hostel had a homely feeling to it. According to other backpackers this was really good in comparison to other hostels in Singapore. It was clean and the staff were good fun and helpful. The wifi was great and facilities were excellent. The only problem with this Hostel is the walk up the three flights of steps in the humid heat of Singapore with your bags as you make your way to check in. But you are welcomed with a cold glass of water once you finally reach the hostel on the third floor.

I liked that they mopped everyday, in this way the floors stayed very clean. Showers were usually a hairy mess though, they need to clean these a lot more. Breakfast was poor- white bread & chocolate paste & jam. Location near the metro- very convenient. They ask all their guests to give them a 100% rating so I think this is why they have such a high rating online. AFTER check out I received a mail filled with lists of activities they provide - wasn't made aware of any of this DURING my stay.

The additional services which we offer have been stated in the terms and conditions of bookings. In addition, there are posters on the walls in the hostel and information at the reception regarding discounted tickets for Singapore attractions. Guests may get more information from our receptionist and we will be more than happy to assist.

Positve: near to subway, feels like a home, clean. Negative: if you want a "party hotel" that is not the place, poor breakfast, small rooms.

Guests who stay with us head out to party just across the street at Clarke Quay. We need to look after the interest of other in-house guests who would like to have a good and quiet night's rest after a long day. In addition, we are a hostel which wish to give guests a homey atmosphere: A home away from home :)

Great location, friendly and helpful staff, and very clean! Everything was very efficient, as I've come to expect from Singaporeans, and I had a very pleasant stay. I've already recommended RCI to a friend and will definitely stay again if I ever need a hostel in Singapore. Thank you!

Safe clean hostel. Lovely cosy atmosphere in the lounge and dining area. Helpful staff, respectful sleeping area, nice clean bathrooms with great big downpour shower heads, bring your own thongs. Enjoyed the toast & spreads w tea/coffee for breakfast. Couple minutes walk to Clarke quay station, at the base of the escalator is the best little chicken rice / congee shop, you'll know it by the crowds. Otherwise head down to chinatown for cheap eats, Maxwell hawker centre and Hong Lim food centre.

A family run hostel in a fantastic location. A short walk from the Clarke Quay MRT station and the Clarke Quay area (nightlife). The hostel is generally pretty clean and beds have curtains and individual lights and outlets. Staff were helpful. Would definitely visit again (primarily because of location)
