Great spot. Would highly recommend it. The breakfast was pretty mediocre but it was cheap so I had it a couple times. Room were clean and comfortable.

Pleasant atmosphere, clean and comfortable. Only issue was I'd requested female only room but that night discovered one male sharing the room. Reason given was it was only room free of mosquitos (he was alergic to them) .Otherwise service was great.

The hostel was located in a decent area, and overall the experience was fine. The only real problem was the 6 bedroom female dorm that my friends and I were in was SO MUSTY. The smell permeated our clothes, the bedding- I've been home half a week and I still get an occasional whiff! We had other friends staying in a three bedroom private room, and they said it was much better, no must, decent beds and shower. So maybe it's a case of spend a little more, get a lot more?

Nice hostel with easy transport links. It's close to an underground station and there are taxi's close by. The staff were friendly and helpful.

Very good hostel in Guangzhou. It's located conveniently right in front of the river so you can easily take a ferry from a few meters away the hostel to the very famous island of Shamian. The closest metro line will take you directly to some of the city's most important spots such as the Chan Clan Academy or various temples... The staff is very friendly as well.

The hostel is quite a ride on the metro from city centre, but this is not a problem. It is in an area with many bars, street restaurants and shops. Anyway it was quiet at night. It is right opposite the pier, where ferries to Shamian leave regularly. There is a common area with a bar. The room was cleaned daily, but there were ants. Nevertheless a nice place to stay.

After more intimate hostel settings in Dali and Lijiang, this hostel is aligned with the larger Guangzhou: a bit busy, formal, businesslike and less friendly. The common rooms are more thoroughfare-like, a it worn, the staff is more businesslike, more interested in paperwork than friendliness. The rooms are clean and well decorated: zenlike. The inroom TVs are archaic, fuzzy, and limited. One surprising thing is the length of the walk, through corridor after corridor, to get to some of the rooms

Nice room with good staffs. They changed the room for free since one of my friend did not make the trip. Very clean and nice location. I would definitely go again !

Great hostel - fantastic location on the river front away from all of the hustle and bustle (yet a short ferry ride away from Guangzhou's premiere tourist site, Shamian Island). Private single room in which I stayed had a great bathroom and lots of character with a window overlooking a side street etc. Good breakfast and coffee available without having to leave the hostel, lots of people about to have a drink with in the evenings, and bars right on your doorstep. What more could you want?

Clean hostel with simple, friendly environment. Right next to the ferry which takes you across the river to a great area of the city for wandering hours on end. Street food around the hostel is a bit disappointing.

I appreciate the choice and volume of the music played in the lobby. The area at the lobby is roomy and comfortable. It's just the stairs is too far from my room.

The room we stayed in was lovely and clean and the location is amazing for street food and near a metro station (which has a great clothes market in it). Its also nice its so close to the river. The only downside was the staff. I think perhaps they were understaffed but they always had no time or interest in helping you with for example directions to places or infact just anything that didnt involve checking in and out. You had to ask them several times for their help even for simple things.

Do you like arriving at a hostel to be told you need to make your own bed in a dark room full of sleeping people? Do you also enjoy curt conversations with surly, uncomprehending staff? If you answered yes, then you'll adore RiverSide YHA - one of China's most expensive* dorm rooms. *Towels, breakfast and polite service not included
