Worst hostel I have ever come across. Left almost immidiately. Do not go here ever. It smelt- was miles away- so dirty it was untrue. Very unhelpful staff. Awful atmosphere. Awful awful awful

I have booked this hostel from byron bay for the Check in time 7:00pm I'm arived 6:00pm in brisbane and I have called this number from the hostel nobudy was here and I dont can Check in on this Day and have no hostel for this night verry verry Bad and I have payed $6 deposit :-(

Ever since we arrived we got only 5 star treatment from Riverside. The breakfast and tea in bed service was exceptional. The manager couldnt do enough for us, he even went out and did a weekly shop for us when we were feeling a bit tired. I would recommend this hostel to anyone who likes the more luxurious things in life. Thank you Riverside

Friendly staff, free and fast internet (WiFi and computers), heaps cleaner under new management. You're in the CBD/party area in 30 minutes and it's just plain cheap :) I just keep coming back here!

Prior to reading the past reviews I was hesitant to book at riverside. As the price was good I chose to gamble and book for one night. Riverside backpackers exceeded my expectations 3 fold, the place was clean, good facilities and a great atmosphere around the place. The staff are welcoming and very easy to get on with. The location is ideal for a backpacker who wants to close enough to town, however far enough away from it as well! this is a fantastic small hostel with a good heart and vibe.

It wash t an hostel, was a private garage,uncleaned,small and with bad smell. After seen the room we have asked our money back and we have searched another hostel. Do not sell it as an hostel. It hasn't the characteristic. Regards Greta

The hostel was a house converted into a hostel. Overall the hostel seemed ok, but it was not accomodating in the sense for a first nights stay we were in the basement where when we arrived we seemed to wake the house owner up who seemed to have slept in the bed we were in. The hostel is good for the money if you don't like gaps under the front door,humid, for a 1st nights stay it was not what we were expecting in terms of the pictures. You are out of town & will have to get a bus. It's expensive

Very good hostel, nice people! Very quiet. Like a home. I highly recommand it.

We were a bit taken back that this room was basically the basement room of the managers house. We encountered a couple of cockroaches during our stay of variable sizes. It was not what I would expect when booking a backpackers. The room was very small. The manger was very friendly when we did see him. It was well located for catching a ferry into central Brisbane....thank goodness for movies on the beach.

Had a great time the staff were very helpful and their cooking was great will be back again

What to say? Loved the manager mark, he went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible while remaining a great source of both knowledge and laughter. Truly a great man. As for the place, standard backpacker accom with all the imperfections we know and love. >_< Good travels...

This hostel was extremely dirty, the worst part about it was the atmosphere, just geeky boys playing computer games inside all day, not really a place you want to visit if you're traveling. Also the location is terrible, it can cost around $15 return simply for 2 people to visit the city and back for a night and if public transport stops running you are forced to get a taxi which is very expensive. Would not recommend this to any real travelers.

Very nice familiar hostel with a great Manager Matt, he'll help you with almost everything you ask for!

Staff were friendly, bathroom ok, lounge area and kitchen quite nice. No security, room felt overcrowded and was in very poor condition, bed was clean and comfortable but room was unbearably stuffy, no air movement at all and became terribly smelly. I woke up in the early hours and couldn't stand it any longer and had to get out of the room. Would be a fine place to stay if paid extra for own room.
