Town of Kardjali is located on the two banks of Arda River, in the heart of the East Rodopi Mountain.
There are 57 000 inhabitants in the town. It is 100 km far southeast from Plovdiv, 150 km west from Edrine, Turkey and 250 km far from Sofia. Kardjali is a Bulgarian regional center and is connected with Plovdiv, Haskovo and Smolyan by regular buses.
