The place needs a good clean - hoover and bleach. The kitchen is greasy and dirty. When I opened a cupboard there was dirt, old tins and an empty beer bottle. the stairs are filthy and the bedroom was disgusting - the pillow smelled of sweat and the bed smelled - in fact i wasn't convinced the sheets had been changed. Under the bed was filthy and there was just a grime everywhere. It really wasn't worth the money and I didn't even get a receipt. I just wanted to get home and have a bath.

Excellent rate compared with less well appointed local hotels, in fact when I stayed, price of a twin/double room was same as a single so more space for same cost. Very clean, warm and comfortable. Location easily accessible and handy for main travel routes and city centre.

No real breakfast, -only cereal which was already expired for 2 months; old coffe and tea. Cups just 3 and dirty. No ad outside the hostal; it's in a private neighbourhood, and at night was almost impossible to find it. I sent the hostal a previous email and they did not reply. For a solo traveler -woman- it feels so unsafe!

Owner Comment (Show)
Customer Booked a 2 Person Mixed Dorm but owner was kind enough to offer her a Single Private Room. Breakfast is NOT included in any of our room type yet customer entered the owners own kitchen early in the morning and left all the silly things about the friendly hostels.

We really didn't like this hostel, it's a fair way out of coventry and basically just a house this guy owns and rents out a room. The people at information hadn't even heard of it, it's not registered. After travelling all day we arrived he told us we had to pay in cash and leave right away, it was dark and the nearest atm was a fair way away.He acted odd when we even suggested the room with our stuff be locked. We only stayed the one night instead of three, moving to the Merlyn which was great.
