I LOVED royal mile backpackers. Excellent location and staff (except one fat guy with a beard...I think he was trying to be funny but he was just a jerk) The rooms have themes (Star Wars, Gotham City, Little Miss...) and the beds have names (Luke Skywalker, Giggles, Batman...) I would recommend this hostel to anyone I defiantly will be back

I stayed here twice in total during my stay in Scotland, it was always warm and welcoming. With a view right onto the Royal Mile from the kitchen was always a good spot to people watch from. Really close to all of the attractions and right in the middle between Holyroodhouse and the castle and a short walk to the main shopping street, was a great price for the area. I have nothing bad to say, thanks guys.

I liked the location, it´s in walking distance of the main tourist attractions. It has a personal locker, although the place you leave your backpack before or after checkout has no security, it´s just behind a wall where everyone has access. It is a bit smelly but the place doesn't look dirty, its more of a dirty carpet smell.

I had a very good time in the Royal Mile Backpackers and can highly recommend it. The location could not be better, the rooms and beds are in very good conditions, the staff was very helpful, friendly and welcoming. Plus individual locker and safe, breakfast, free tea and coffee, free wi-fi.

I thought that the Royal Mile Backpackers was a really friendly place to stay and in a brilliant location which for the price of £90 for two nights during the fringe was more than I could have expected. The staff were always smiling and I enjoyed that all the rooms were themed. It was very different to any other hostel I've stayed in which were all very plain and boring. I was also impressed that we got a locker for each bed, this was greatly appreciated!

staff were very nice, the hostel itself was good but i thought the security re leaving bags for storage was next to none...i walked in and walked out without anyone checking who i was. i could have grabbed anyone's bag! but besides that was fine :)

A fairly small, and typically cramped, hostel... No room to swing a cat, but perfectly ok if you need a place to crash following suffering the misfortune of being stuck in Edinburgh for the night, or the double misfortune of being stuck in Edinburgh during festival time. Being on the Royal Mile, this place could not be more central to the action - at this time of year you will have to fight your way to the hostel through a forest of flyer-handing-out show touts.

A very nice, friendly hostel! lots of long timers who are willing to chat. The good points were the location and free beverages. Although it would have been a nicer experience if it was solely single sexed dorms. A couple 'waking you up' in the morning never sets up your appetite for breakfast. No secure luggage store to leave your belongings through the day. But can't fault the location or staff. Would recommend it!!!!!
