excellent location - right by an express subway station, shops nearby, quiet area rooms were clean and cosy, shared bathroom was clean negative was that the heating got turned off one evening due to complaints that rooms are too hot... come on... staff was nice, though they charged us 2$ for each bag to store all in all: next time i'm coming to NY i'd stay there again!

The staff was the strongest point of my stay at this hostel, very friendly and helpful.

Except the location, I really didn't like this hostel. i paid less for a GREAT hotel in DC. The staff completely forgot us (The maids didn't come for 3 nights, we were suppose to have towels we are still waiting for..) and it was way too expensive for that service. Besides that the location is excellent; 2mins walking to the red line and then literally 10min from time square.

Appalling. There was blood stains on my blanket, the people in the room next door repeatedly came home at awful hours, singing extremey loudly and were never told to be quiet. They also attempted to break down our door several times. We were charged roughly $200 more than were were quoted on the website and the hotel was not interested in rectifying this mistake. Threw only wifi at reception, which is just stupid. We ended up checking out 4 days early and saved around $200 pp at the new place

It is too bad that the bathroom has to be shared with so many rooms, it makes for a long waiting in the morning.

Location and rooms are fine, however they only provide you with the bare minimum.. no cooking or laundry facilities.

As so often, the room didn't look like in the picture. I stayed in the hostel for two nights - it was ok. The rooms aren't that nice looking and I missed a chair or something to keep your clothes for example. The bathroom was ok. There are 2 bathromms on each floor, but the waiting times wern't that bad!

This place was great! It was close to the train station and there were various places to grab a bite and drug store close by for quick necessities. I loved my experience there and the room was wide and spacious (2 bed private room). The bathroom had leaking problems with the pipes which was a bit worrying but it managed to work out.

The hostel could use some better cleaning. The shared bathroom at times a mess, the private ones better. I heard some guests complaining about missing clothing, but I didnt have a problem. Stayed in a private room with private bathroom. Great location, one block from the subway but the overall look and cleanness of the hotel could improve.

Against my better judgment (and ignoring the other reviews) I decided to give this place a shot, in the hope that it was better than the previous reviewers suggest. Regardless of the fact this is in Manhattan the place is massively overpriced for what it is, clearly the bare minimum is done to keep the place ticking over. I've stayed in places twice as good for half the price. I would never go back and would not recommend this place to anyone unless you’re absolutely desperate.
