This was beyond my expectations for a budget hotel in New York!! Not only were the staff the most welcoming people we met in the city, the room was amazing for what we paid! Double bed (which was quite comfy) air conditioner, decent view on the 5th floor, very clean and quiet. The location was also PERFECT! I would most definately recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to save money but not quality!

the message from Hostelworld after booking for 3 nights was: "A non-refundable charge of EUR 32.46 (USD 39.50) has been billed to your credit card. Upon arrival at your accommodation the balance of USD 337.50 (EUR 278.65) is payable", indeed when i arrived they told me I had to pay 399 USD because there are "fees" that hostel will charge you, "it's hostelworld problem" they say, after the first night i went to a proper HOTEL right in front of them and paid just like half for a better service.

Staff was very friendly and the room was clean. Located right off of the subway... perfect for what we needed.

Bathroom was very clean and new (4th floor) location very good but the room was very small TV was old and furniture old fashioned and WI FI only available at the reception. The neighborhood was safe but very noisy. Everything went very smoothly with booking on hostelworld and I could easily contact the hostel staff for questions.

Stayed in a private room with private bathrooms. If you need a simple room to sleep in that is clean for a good price, this is definitley the right hotel/hostel! The hole staff is also so helpfull and nice, especially Fernando :)! Location is good, subway (96th street) is round the corner, like a minute to walk. Takes less then 10min to most sightseeing places with subway (times square, empire, etc.).

It was a nightmare!! don\'t book in this hostel... it is not serious, bathroom are disgusting rooms are very small, floor is dirty, the bath is broken... anyway, I was very angry all my week end!they really don\'t care about customers, because it is young people who don\'t have money they try to ask the more money as they can, and give you a place to sleep but it could be a house for down and out....

There was no wifi in the second floor even though the staff said it would be there. The guy at the desk didn't say hi to anyone walking past. Had to pay more than expected.

The room we had was supposedly for four people but should have only been rented to two at the most, it was tiny and like a box - barely enough room to open all of our bags. There was also only one bathroom for the entire floor and no wi-fi in the rooms and the hotel itself is pretty old and run down. However, for $42 a night it could have been worse and the rooms were clean and relatively quiet

You get a lot for your money in this hostel :) We loved our room we stayd in!! It was a ensuit.. We thougt we hade our own bathroom, so that was a minus!! But it was ok anyway.. The toilet was fresh! Like minutes walk to the metro station. We´r definitely gonna stay here the next time we go to N.Y :)

Our room was very nice and very clean. There was a problem checking in when we got there as our reservation was lost, and the staff member on duty was not very nice about it but it got sorted in the end. Great location as close to subway station. Overall nice place.

Conveniently located near the subway. Bring flip-flops- bathroom floors are almost always wet and/or messy. Bathrooms on the east side of the hostel seem in better shape than the west side (e.g. broken shower controls on 3rd & 4th floors). Linens were stained with spots (blood?) and you might want to bring your own towel. Noise from other guests was substantial and the room was not much bigger than the bed itself. That being said, you could probably do much worse in Manhattan for the same price.

Good value but stay could have been improved by providing wi-fi throughout the facility rather than just the lobby and by upgrading the shared bath with bathmats and soap. Our room seemed OK until we got a peek into the neighboring room and realized that there was a TV and MUCH more room per person. Also the lock was very insecure-- corrugated cardboard was used to shimmy it flush with door frame so that door was very insecure-- very amateur. The place is half way between a hostel and a hotel

The stay was good, though some facilities are old. The location is perfect, and I'd probably stay there again.

Door wouldn't stay closed unless you were inside to lock it. Cold air from window was refreshing but the result of air conditioner vents staying open. Heater was provided but too late to make enough difference.

I really enjoyed my stay there. Staff are very friendly, approachable and ready to help. The location of the hotel could not have been better! Central park is minutes away and other locations are easy to reach by subways. i.e. Times Square. The rooms are tidy, beds are comfortable and the building itself is presentable for the price being paid. A downside is wifi access only at reception or 1st floor & that Tax is not included in overall price. I would definitely go back to RPH due to location.

When I reserved the hostel on hostelworld.com the calculation for the total included taxes. In the hostel they said that the tax wasn't included so I needed to pay the tax again. I had brought the confirmation with the 'total amount due' but that didn't help. The employer said that hostelworld never adds the tax. I was and still am not confinced about that. Storage of luggage happens without putting a label on the luggage so every one can take your luggage.

Great location if you dont need to stay in time square or village. i actually like it better because its calmer here. there's a great little market around the corner that sells fresh fuit and coffee and is open till at least 1 am. one block from the 1-2-3 subway lines to time square (~10min), financial distract, brooklyn, and everywhere in-between. a few blocks from the M60 bus that goes to laguardia. the staff was very helpful and nice. bathrooms are clean. room is small, but its manhattan!

The location is excellent. Hotel is quite private even near subway. I would recommend friends and relatives to stay there again.
