Great kitchen! We cooked a great meal instead of eating out and it was a great decision. The whole hostel was very clean and welcoming.

Nice little place. Glad the kitchen is available for use. I imagine in high season it gets ridiculously crowded in that hostel, but it has it's charms. WiFi works well. I would encourage the owner to let people know that the hot water only works on the bottom floor. I took ice-cold showers for four days upstairs before another guest informed me of this. Needless to say I was not happy, and found communication and helpfulness from the owner lacking.

Beds are really comfy, but no lockers to safely store your things and not much space in the bedroom to even leave them on the floor. Kitchen is very well equipped and the living area is very nice. Charges are advertised all over the hostel for things which every other hostel I've stayed in have given for free. (Kitchen use after check out, stored bags, use of hostel computer etc.) But other than that a nice hostel.

A fab little place to stay. 10 min walk to town. Querky little house full of character. No breakfast means cheap room. Kitchen clean as are the bathrooms. Worth the money and recommend.

To be very honest u entered this hostal reading great ratings and viewing a high satisfied percentage, however as I entered the property I was barely greeted by the owner I presume who was to busy on his computer to explain anything to me, so after he showed me to my room he dropped my keys on the bed and left to his computer again... I was in a room with three beds, zero rooms to put any bags even the smallest, tiny bathroom, with no towel hangeres or anything! I left the hostal after 5 mins...

I ve been traveling pretty much everywhere and i must say staying with León at ruca hostel was definitely one of the best experiences. Not only coz i never felt alone but also because of the small family the hostel has become.. Clean, friendly and peacefull, it s definitely a place in which you ll experience the real spirit of puerto varas. Take care León!!

Seriously one of the best hostals I've stayed at. I was sad to leave La Ruca, but unfortunately had to get on a prebooked flight. León, the owner, created a very open friendly atmosphere that brought the entire hostel together. It felt like home for a few days, and I won't forget the people I met there. Dancing, singing, laughing, having a great time with León, his friends from Santiago, and the rest of the travelers. And, what's more, he cooked some amazing food for the family dinners! :)

Excellent hostel with an excellent staff. Really enjoyed the kitchen and people here. One of my favorite hostels in South America.

The staff really is welcoming and allowed for a very open atmosphere where everyone who wanted to join could. We had many common meals, days out and good laughs. Played Wii bowling, danced, sang song on the lawn. I spent 2 extra days there out of sheer enjoyment and relaxation.

The hostel is easy to find and near to busterminal. The guys there are friendly and help you with all you want to do in this area. The rooms, the bathroom and the kitchen is OK, but we suffer from bedbugs - every day some spots more on our skin. Unfortunately we had no notebook, for using PC you have to pay more than in one of the internet-cafes in the town. Good partys take place here, for a little bit more silence in the night you might have to choose another accomodation.

Nice hostel located in a 5 minutes walk from the city center. There is no breakfast, but you can always use the kitchen. The staff is really nice and helpful and might invite you to go out and have some fun. The toilets are good and spacious, but in my view there is not enough of them, since most of them I had to wait to go to the toilet.

We spent 2 nights at Ruca Hostel and we totally love it! We felt like home, the atmosphere is great kind of homey. The staff was super nice with us. They helped us with all kind of tips and what to do around the city. They also helped us booking our hostel in Valdivia. The beds are not so good, but I would definitely stay there again! Oh, and the location is great! We already miss Canela, the owner's little dog! Gracias por todo León y Luis!!! Giulia, Fernanda e Marina.

I'd like to forget that I ever stayed in this hostel. This place was so noisy that I haven't slept for 2 nights I was there. It has paper-thin walls and you could hear people whispering from other rooms, the wooden floors also leave noise and the worst part was the party in a backyard until like 2am-2:30am (although there are signs all around the hostel that no noise should be done after midnight). If you're after the party, come to this hostel. If you want to sleep at all, just find another one.

Good Wifi! Extremly small room, extra charge for more than one shower/day, lights switched off at 12, no power plugs in room. But still a cosy place. Location ok, about 10min walk to center. Friendly owner. No breakfast.

This hostel was extremely comfortable and homely. The owner / manager was fantastic and he was able to help with local activities. The kitchen was clean and large. I would definitely stay here again.

Small rooms but a nice comfortable hostel, only a few blocks away from Pullmann and JAC bus terminal. The center is reached in about 5 min. The owner has a nice little dog. Breakfast is not included, but there is a small kitchen to share.

Great hostel at a good location (5-10 minutes walk to the bus termial and to the center each). The building is nice, but one shouldn't be too tall, else one tends to bump one's head.
