Fantastic hostel!! The only downside is that it is quite far out of the centre but the public transport is easy, reliable and safe to use. Plus we stayed during carnival so staying outside the centre meant getting a decent sleep!! Paolo and his team are brilliant. I have stayed in many hostels and this one was the best. They can\'t do enough for you, and really treat you like family. So much so that when I was ill they went to the pharmacy for me. I can\'t rave about this place enough!!

We had a great time in Rio during carnival. Except for the little remote location of the hostel to the center, this hostel was perfect. A lot of space, great breakfast, very helpful staff!!

The only no excellent thing about Safari Hostel, is that it you will be spending money on buses, subway and/or taxi's to get anywhere. That being said, it is away from the hustle and bustle of downtown, copacabana, ipanema, etc. and is VERY quiet and peaceful. Paolo and his family are very helpful and friendly!!!

More like a guesthouse than a hostel. Paolo and his wife will treat you like family. Location is a nice respite from the chaos of Rio, and is only a short bus ride or cab away from the beach of Sao Conrado or Centro. Cannot be beat! A true gem.

A very comfortable hostel in a historic house, providing a warm personal welcome. The dorms are well appointed, the washing facilities are clean and plentiful. There is a beautiful large common room and the generous buffet breakfast is served in the garden. Not for people who want to walk straight out from their hotel into the touristy streets, but located in an area that is easily accessible by public transport, and next door to the entry of a wonderful National Park, well worth a visit too.

This place was just what we were looking for! We had been on a long tour around south America and when arriving into rio at carnival time we wanted some where we could chill out and relax! The public transport here meant that it was easy to get anywhere in the city. The hostel is set up to encourage you to meet and migle with other travelers. The owners Paulo and Anna go out of their way to know evey ones names and make sure you have everything you need! Oh and breakfast was the best ever!

Thank you for an excellent stay! You were a magnificent host, and we felt extremely welcomed in the hostel. Everything was perfect, from the food to the drinks and the furnishings. Thank you for being one of the best parts of our stay in Rio!
