It is very nice place to stay in Tokyo. Standing Sushi Bar nearby is the best food in the world!! Staff is nice and helpfull, atmosphere is also great. Tokyo isn't a cheap place to stay but Sakura is value for money.
For a decent, solid accommodation and good value for the money, can't go wrong with this place. The staff is friendly and informative, although the hostel is just very big that it looses it's intimate feel. But overall, excellent location in Ikebukuro, and plenty to do at all times, so you can't beat the location! The rooms are orderly, and the facilities have solid amenities and not a bad place for the price range.
I enjoyed my visit and would stay here again in Tokyo. The staff were helpful about the area. The cafe owned by the hostel was a decent place to stop for a drink, snack, or meal and to chat with travelers. Just don't bring your own snacks to the cafe. Cons: There were no lockers (keep valuables behind the desk), personal lights in the dorms are too bright, and bunk power outlets were hard to use. Pro: Showers/beds were clean and everything else was great! Look for a flier for used kimono nearby!
Staff were kind of friendly and spoke English. The 8 person rooms feel cramped, with barely any walking space because of luggage. The shower/toilet rooms were filled with "DO NOT DO X" signs. I was kicked out of the Sakura Hostel Cafe because I was eating a 7-11 bento even though I bought a beer there (have to eat in the kitchen area on your floor). They must be pretty dense with all the non-English tourists that come around... Ikebukuro... not my favorite place.
It was a really great place to stay. everything is so clean and the staff are lovely

The staff is amazind. Very helpful, effective and really nice. The location is not really central Tokyo, but the area has becomeas a small "Akihabara"ish so its pretty cool! Anyway, the station is not far away and goes with many lines so is quite easy to move around. One thing must know about Tokyos subway/metro/train system. There are different companies that run it, so tickets from different companies must be purchased in order to make a connection that involves them. Its a little complicated
The staff are super friendly and helpful. During my stay in Tokyo - I also stayed at Ace Inn & Khaosan Ninja. I felt that the atmosphere was a lot more welcoming at both of those hostels, and it was a lot easier to meet people. Not necessarily a bad thing, but I feel as though this hostel almost seemed like a hotel than a hostel. There weren't too many backpackers there, but I'd still definitely recommend this place. Nothing negative really to say, everything was up to par except the atmosphere!
The staff was very friendly and helpful, and I loved that there was a 24 hr restaurant right downstairs. The room was clean and the amenities provided (tv, internet, fridge, turndown service) were great! I would definitely stay here again and recommend it to anyone looking for a good affordable place to stay while venturing out in Tokyo!
