It is more like a hotel, and has a cool pub on the ground level. We arrived quite late but the Ken (I guess the owner) was attentive and got us excellent food from the kitchen which was about to close. Great location. Only drawback I would say is the noise, both from inside and outside. Thin walls and busy street do not help. But just put some earplugs and it is all good.

The walls are thin, the floors are creaky. The curtains don't block out the street lights or road/alley noise. There's no soap anywhere. But the staff are friendly and helpful, the bed was comfy, and the inn is close to two free bus lines running every 10 mins. It was around the corner from "!Audacious" where I went to hear a speaker. I felt reasonably safe. And it was £35 for the night. I recommend it--but take your own soap, earplugs and sleepmask.

Just to let you know, the place doesn't open (so you can't check in) until 12-1pm. However, once you do check in you have 24 hour access. We arrived 8am and had to hang out until they opened - only downside. It's not a hostel, it's a hotel as it says in the title. Downstairs serves good cold beer and amazing meals that were cheaper than expected. Close to town, although a fair walk (25-35 mins) from the bus stop. It's in United territory, for us City fans it was was good fun and banter!

Although it was a short stay I will definitely come back when returning to Manchester. Great staff, atmosphere and excellent food :)

Live music as I arrived; really cool atmosphere. Doesn't disturb you up in your room, though; bit of street noise there, but that's about it. In room shower, coffee and TV were all appreciated. Shared bathroom was really clean. Separate entrance from the bar, by key fob. The power did go out the morning I left, but emergency lighting worked fine.

The inconvenience was the radiator in the room; the room was roasting all the night and it was impossible to switch it off. We had to open the window to be able to sleep resulting in a very high l;evel of traffic noise from the street + no breakfast served as a standard

there was not a lock on our bedroom door. we were told someone would be coming to fix it and would be done for our return. we got back and it was still not fixed. we didnt mind that much as we wern't leaving anything of value in the room., and were only staying 1 night. im sure if we requested a room change/refund that they would of sorted it. Ken was great very polite and helpful, would definitely go back to the salford arms.

Me and my Hubby stayed here as we where going to a gig at the MEN Arena on a Tuesday night. The hostel was quiet, very clean (White Bedding), staff friendly and the location was good too with Salford train station in view from the hostel - which is one stop to the MEN Arena. In the morning we where able to get the free bus (bus stop opposite the train station) in to Manchester City Centre to see the Christmas Markets before we went home.

Good hotel. The staff were friendly and attentive and the room was odd but good - the addition of a toilet in the room to go with the sink and shower would have been a bonus. The owners no longer charge a deposit for the key. They had forgotten to supply a cup or glass, but I'm sure I could've asked and got these. Location is excellent for Deansgate and there's a cheap but unsecured carpark nearby (£8/24hr). Only thing is it took too long to check in - no details passed on from Hostelworld.
