Old and could do with a cleaning espescially for the price. Met a weird puppeteer, you decide if that's a plus or not

Hello. I would like to say that this was the worst hostel which i have ever visited. First for this money i expected clean and comfortable room. The room was horrible, very bad smell. No clean beds(qualts),no wash ..nothing Bathroom very very small,no clean,no towels.. Staff,we were in living room at eveningand thatwas nice. I won't suggest this hostel to no one. Regards, Ursa

We had a great stay at the Salmon Weir Hostel. It was a nice and small hostel, with a great staff. They made us feel right at home and recommended good things to do and see in Galway. We were also very happy about the tour the hostel offers, with Lilian. With a group of just 5 we went to see The Burren and The Cliffs of Moher. This was way better than with one of the big tour operators. The rooms are quite small, but the bed was amazing. Thanks Dominique for making our stay so pleasant!

Awesome hostel with Amazon friendly staff. Would definitely stay again

It was incredibily dirty, room extremly small, stinky, the bed was next to the window - too wet and windy to sleep, moisture everywhere. Location was only good thing about the hostel.

Room was very small. Curfew of 3am was a bit limiting.

Very small room for 2 people and a set of bunk beds. Staff were VERY helpful and courteous. Special thanks to Dominic and Damien for their concern for our bike travels. We made it OK, on those winding, hilly roads near Clifden!

Stayed in salmon weir as a last minute booking. A good decision as i was able to relax and the staff were extremely helpful and friendly

It would feel a lot more secure if there were a lock on the rooms - or if the doors were ever even closed at all. I liked the homely vibe of the place but when you've got 10-12 people walking in and out of rooms it would be nice to have that extra bit of security. Locker were provided though which was good. Also a cover for the skylight in room 6 would be good as it woke everyone up very early with the light. Otherwise friendly staff, decent kitchen, decent location, just a bit pricey

By far the best hostel I've stayed in. I expected it to be rundown due to the price and the other reviews on this site, but it had comfortable beds, clean bathrooms, wifi that worked, and a nice big kitchen. They don't offer breakfast, but they do have tea and coffee and sugar and milk for those. The staff is really nice, and there's a lot of camaraderie amongst the travellers. They have a good common space with books, games, and musical instruments.

The staff are lovely and the facilities are great. Hostel couldn't be placed any better as the shops are right around the corner. Overall a great place to stay.

Very small, cramped room. Distance between beds was about 50 centimetres maximum. Nice welcome, but not the cleanest place in the world. If I could get different accommodation next time, I'd stay somewhere else.

Booked here for one night but ended up staying for three, primarily due to the v.professional and helpful staff (Dom, Damian and Padrote). If I need to stay in galway over night again, I'll try here first.

This hostel was a great base for exploring Galway. The staff were very kind and keen to chat. The kitchen was well stocked with the likes of oil and spices available for your use and free tea and coffee all day. The 12 bed dorm is very cramped and doesn't give you much room to move but fine for a short stay. There are lockers in the room which is a plus. The bathrooms and beds both appeared to be well cleaned whilst here. It would be better value for money if breakfast was provided though.

Very friendly and helpful staff. Our room was very small, but everything else about the hostel was great!

Salmon Weir is missing a d in its name. The facilities are decent, kitchen is good and showers were for the most part upkept, but the rooms were pretty migrant-worker-level, the six-bed room could not fit six people to stand comfortably, hard to move around, pretty dank. Unusual staff and strange people seemed to be attracted to this place, weird noises going on til late night, just an overall strange place. Washer and dryer coats money, not very convenient.

Great hostel, great location. Room was quite small but didn't have a problem with this, perfectly adequate! Large kitchen was great and the hostel is within a 5-10 minute of some very cheap supermarkets. Staff were great and very helpful. Late curfew lets you enjoy the Galway pubs properly!
