We found the hostel easily enough but that was the best thing about it. The attendent quickly showed us our accomodations and that was the last time we saw him. The rooms were dirty and the linen was stained and of dubious cleanliness. The lockers were few and too narrow for use so everyone just put their stuff where ever it would go. The security was supposed to be someone sitting at the desk checking the door but we never saw anyone and the door was unlocked til 3:00am and no door key either.

This place was basically a college dorm, run as a hostel by college boys; with the corresponding cleanliness and good vibes/hangout. Very chill, bathrooms were actually pretty clean. Sheets and pillows a bit less so (stains etc). Not a bad location at all, even if not directly downtown. Staff was nice and helpful. Always people downstairs hanging out and cooking. I would stay here again.

The first impression of the hostel was not good. Little room in the entrance and it got worse when arrived to the 4-bed bedroom without private bathroom. It is a very small room for 4 people that I am surprised how they managed to put the bunks in there. Cleanliness of the room was not good, but the bathroom was. Living room and kitchen were quite good with large space to do all the stuff you need, plus a large collection of games, dvds and books to enjoy as well as guitars to play.

Great Location, price value. Shower was TERRIBLE. Room was grimy, bed mattress was super uncomfortable.

We had reserved a twin room which was listed as having a private bathroom yet the bathroom was shared with others. The room was tiny and cramped and although the sheets were clean, everything else was filthy. There were used tissues stuffed down the side of one of the beds which was pretty gross to say the least. Window blind was broken, mattresses were comically bad and i felt dirtier coming out of the shower than going into it. Go elsewhere.

We had a 6 bedroom for us but it was tiny. We had no space at all. Beds were old and not confortable. Adding to that, there are 4 or 5 showers but most of them have only cold water...

It was the second night in this hostel. What I want to mention is that the staff are super nice and warm to people. The sheets and quilt covers are set for the customers. You do not need to do it by yourself. And you can smell the washing-powder fragrance when you touch the sheets. The facilities in the kitchen look quite new. The cleaness is very good. The speed of wifi is very pleasing. You can drink the tea, coffee whenver you want. No time limites. The atmosphere is lovely.

This hostel is really worth your money. location: it takes just 5-10 minutes walk to the shop street, Eyre square and maybe 15 minutes walk to the coach station. The city centre of Galway is quite small. You can reach everywhere by foot. By the way, this hostel is quite close to big supermarkets, lidl and Tesco, which open for 24 hours. Even though it does not provide breakfast, you can use every utensils to cook for your meals. And the oil, ingredients there are free to use.

Fun stay at Salmon Weir! Location was great, just a short walk to center of town. Security good; we had a key to our room and had to be buzzed in every time to enter the hostel itself. The staff, Francisco especially, were super friendly and very helpful with all our questions. Nice, welcoming atmosphere. Slept in a 6-bed room; the room was hilariously narrow but we managed! Bathroom for room in hallway; toilet & sink in same place so only one person at a time. Would definitely stay here again!

The only negative point is that our room are very small and not very comfortable beds! But there is a very good atmosphere between guests and staff, and for the price it's VERY WELL! I recommend it!!!

I loved staying here and was only sad that I spent only one night there. The people were wonderful, and it felt more like a home than a hotel. I enjoyed everything about my stay there and if the water was only lukewarm, well, everything else more than compensated.

The building needs a bit of renovation work here and there, but it was clean enough. Lovely informal, sociable atmosphere, and brilliantly equipped kitchens. We loved it, and will stay there again whenever we visit Galway.

The bedroom was VERY tiny (my dad could not even have access to the lockers or to the window...), and with no heat while it was close to 0°C outside... About the bathroom based downstairs, nothing was working properly. Cheap hostel but don't expect much of it.

The team are great! I have forgotten their names, but they were so helpful and accommodating in anything that was asked of them! So close to the city centre - ideal, not to mention the facilities the guys have - only thing I would say, is if the showers could be more powerful!

Mold all over the room. Even under the windows right next to the bed. In the morning the top of the bed was wet due to the untight window and the mold under it.
