The room was very clean, they cleaned it every day! I was alone in a 4 bed room, great! Good laundry facility, nice and helpful receptionist! In the evening it was usually very loud, hard to sleep, because people sitting on the balcony in front of the rooms!

Really great hostel! Loved it!

Saltwater Lodge was the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in --- and i've stayed in many in the UK especially. The facilities for cooking were fantastic and the room was large, well appointed with coffee and tea, hot water kettle, excellent shower in the immaculate bathroom. Best of all though were the staff -- friendly and very helpful everyone of them! Martin was very kind and helpful especially. Thanks for a great stay!

Great hostel, kitchen facilities were really good, rooms were clean. Is literally metres from the beach and a 5min walk into Paihia, would stay there again.

By far the best thing for us were the free bikes - it made getting around Paihia so easy. The lounge area was also really good and the kitchen was great - it even had a pretty impressive looking sandwich press. There is a bar next door that was pretty loud, but they had finished up around 1am so it's not the worst thing in the world. Big storage space in the room and only 30 second walk to the beach as well :)

Only thing this place really needs is wifi, either paid or free. It is a very warm place that feels like someone's home with beautiful decorations. Definitely a place to live with its excellent staff.
