Great hostel! Close to Copacabana beach. Very welcoming staff who always have great recommendations on what to do. Super friendly guests. Would definitely recommend!

Well located hostel with great staff. Beds were comfy and rooms were well ventilated. Breakfast could be improved and cleaniliness, bathrooms were a bit grim in the morning. But overall we really enjoyed our stay!

Great friendly place to stay at. Met a lot of people from different places and everyone was kind. I really liked the fact people from the hostel would get together to hangout and bnd with one another.

Samba Green is an amazing hostel. It's very well located (15 minutes to Copacabana Beach, near the subway and with a lot of buses that pass close by), the staff is very friendly and helpful, and the rooms are very nice (stayed in the room without air conditioning and was glad by the amount of fans they had there to make sure the room was cool!). The kitchen and bathroom sometimes get a bit messy, but are still fine. Definitely enjoyed my time there.

Really helpful staff that give great information on the city. It's in the best location, there's many supermarkets and restaurants close by, it's walking distance to Copacabana beach and sugar loaf and the metro isn't too far. Wifi only worked in the reception which doubles as a common room but it's pretty small for everyone to fit. Also the dorms are a bit small and there's not enough room for luggage.

Samba Hostel is located at the south border between Botafogo and Copacabana. The beach can be reach within 15 minutes on foot. The neighbourhood is safe (police station two blocks away). Samba hostel is a party hostel. Better to know that before going! The room can be very hot in summer and the ones with ac don t have any windows (you need to go down few stairs from the ground floor to access them). All in all, if you are looking for parties: go. Otherwise you might like to look somewhere else

Staff is very friendly. I really love their passion to help. Every single dorm should have air conditioning. Breakfast must start when it is planned to start. Rooms must be cleaned and bins should be emptied every day

Hi Jens Braun, Thanks, I really love my Staff. 1. You paid for the cheapest room. I have rooms with aircon, why you have not chosen it? 2. We have served the breakfast delayed one day. We had a little problem. Sorry about that, You are right. 3. The rooms are cleaned everyday, and the bins as well. You were here with the hostel full, it ´s hard to keep the rooms organized, but it was cleaned :)

Good hostel for a young age group

Owner Comment (Hide)
You are right. The hostel is for young people by soul. If you do not like them, it will be hard to enjoy hostels.

Very good vibes in this hostel. The staff is really friendly and helpful and Carlos, the owner, a real Carioca, is still there to share some time with guests, talk about everything and give some tips about Rio.

Friendly hostel with awesome staff in a great location. Not very clean though, a couple toilets don't flush downstairs and are perpetually clogged. The others always have skid marks on them because the bathrooms aren't cleaned throughout the day. Shower drains are also clogged. This hostel has the potential to be great if it was just washed down with some bleach more often. Besides that, the staff awesome and it's within walking distance to the beach.

Hands down one of the best hostels in South America! The staff is amazing!!! There were always people ready to do something but they bring the party elsewhere at night so I slept like a baby! The breakfast was more then bread and butter... Finally! Such a great place! Highly recommend it!

The hostel is quite well located, although you have to walk quite a way to enter the subway. The rooms and facilities were super clean, what ist nice. Also the staff was very nice (all of them travelers staying for a couple of months) and could give some good hints what is good to do. The only negative point ist a missing place to hang out: the reception is thought for that, but it is not really cozy, and it is the main hangout for the staff, what is not always what travellers are looking for).

Hostel has a nice location, the neighbpurhood is really nice, the meteo station is not far from the hostel. You can walk to the sugar mountain and even to Copacabana. Guys working there are great, really nice and funny. I had a great time there and I wish I could stay longer. The only critic for me is poor breakfast (we are in brazil and there was no fruit, every day just toast) and toilets and kitchen are a bit messy.

A great little hostel, situated in a safe and relaxed street in Botafogo. It has a social vibe, but without being to much of a party hostel. The owner is very passionate and knowledgeable about Rio, and really wants you to enjoy his city. It was my first hostel in Brazil and Rio, and it was for me a great start.

Carlos and other stuff are so helpful, provide me every detail information of the routes and sights. The facility here is well equipped and the bathroom has hot water and very clean. Besides Carlos's help, another thing I like is the safeness here, I even feel safer than the 4 stars hotel I live in São Paulo. But the breakfast is served a little bit late. And when people gather together, they always speak Portuguese, which is hard for a Chinese 😢
