How much does a hot water kettle cost? The hot water kettle in the kitchen is out of order, it took 10 mins, water still not boiled... ... how can people make a cup of tea or coffee? Room is really hot, couldn't sleep at night. Not sure whether because it is a old building? Room temperature is at least 8 degrees hotter than street temperature. It remind me one hostel in Prague, really hot!! Never forget that.

Hi and thanks for the feedback. New kettle is on the way! It has been unseasonably warm this past week that's for sure. Cheers! Pete Assistant Manager

The hostel was in a great location and the staff was extremely accommodating! This place might be pricier than other hostels but it's worth every penny for the convenience and security.

We had a great stay at samesun. Really enjoyed the day activities, as they were really sociable and we made lots of friends.

Jack, Jayne and Kurt were all so awesome! Made great atmosphere and were very friendly and helpful! Excellent staff. Air conditioning would have been great.

Thanks for the kind words! Actually we just traded Jack to the Barnacles Hostel in Dublin. They offered a six pack of Guiness. How could we refuse? But seriously, we will miss him. Cheers! Pete

Pros: Amazing location, good price, great atmosphere, & incredibly friendly staff. Con (minor!): The lock on my door was very difficult to open and close (even with practice, it takes longer than usual). 1) Guests are coming and going at all hours and when someone is trying to unlock the door for minutes at 3 in the morning, it can wake you up pretty quick. 2) Because it's such a pain to lock, it's often left unlocked when guests are coming and going, which raises some minor security concerns.

Hello and thanks for your feedback. We are looking into switching all of our locks to a key card style system. Unfortunately this is still a few months away as we are in the peak of summer still, but this is on the horizon. Thanks! Pete

Fun place no matter your age. Unusual hostel: Free breakfast, tour company operates out of lobby and organizes a different tour each day for nominal fee.

Awesome hostel! If you're looking to meet new people, stay here! They have daily group activities that guests can attend plus a bar just downstairs! Would stay here again if I come back to Vancouver.

They'd thought of nearly everything you need. It's in a great location and the security was good, a new code everyday.

We needed a place to stay in downtown Van and fast, SameSun was the literal last one available so we bit the bullet and booked it without much research, it was exactly what we needed and totally worth your time- definitely pricey but that's to be expected in downtown Van. Great location and friendly/helpful staff! Certainly recommended, thanks so much Same Sun!

They have daily activities that you can participate in for a low cost. It's awesome that there is a bar as well in the hostel, and a great way to meet people.

Loved this hostel, wish I stayed here longer! Great atmosphere and met loads of people here, it's right on Granville street amongst all the bars clubs restaurants and shops! its very central so everything is walking distance, staff here was so friendly! The hostel was clean and comfortable with good facilities and has its own bar which is pretty decent! Great daytime activities are run with the hostel and a great way to explore vancouver and meet people! hopefully will come back in the future.

Great location, friendly people and really nice breakfast. Also my bed was comfortable. The only thing is, that it was really hot in our room and the internet slow connected.

In general we had a good stay here. It was nice that the bottom floor has a bar where guests can socialize and get cheap eats/drinks. Staff were helpful and friendly, and noise levels were never a problem. That said, we were there during the week only. Stayed in a private room that was small but clean and comfortable enough, but although there was a TV we couldn't get channels & the wifi isn't the best. Biggest downside being on the 3rd floor was the lack of A/C:) Summer Heat oppressive!

Room was hot, and rooms at the front looking on to Granville are loud! But the hostel is in a fantastic location, nice people and the tours are great!

The hostel is in a great location. Very clean and they take security seriously, which is probably pretty necessary in the heart of downtown where the hostel is located. It doesn't have the best set up for socializing but all in all I would recommend this hostel.

Hello and thanks for your feedback. We have a common room upstairs, but we also have a great bar downstairs, which is always a good way for travelers to meet. Especially after one of our fantastic activities (shameless activity plug, I know). :) Thanks for the recommendations, appreciate it! Pete

Good hostel, great breakfast but wake up early to get the muffins... Better than the HI in terms of socialising as well, good facilities though can be difficult if you want some quiet to call home.

Overall I had a pretty amazing stay in your hostel! The big take-away for me was the staff. On Saturday afternoon my brother was apprehended and marched to an ATM where he was asked to take out his money. He got away, but lost his wallet in the process. The staff at the hostel did all they could do to help him out. One staff member in particularly, Fia, stood out in how she calmed us down over the weekend. She exemplified the exceptional helpful nature I received during my stay from the staff!

The hostel itself was pretty awesome; the facilities were always clean and the kitchen was a nice accommodation! I appreciated that outside visitors weren't allowed upstairs and that a consistently changing code was used for the door leading into the hostel; it made me feel more secure. Unfortunately, the service at the restaurant was pretty slow and I wasted a lot of time waiting for food or the check. That was a bummer. Besides that, everything else was great!
