Only one shower + toilet per level, no sink. Have to brush your teeth in the shower or in the restroom of the lobby. Way too expensive for a hostel like this.

Not a bad place but just average. It's pretty quiet at night and has a wide range of guests. Location is great and it's an affordable option for central SF. Breakfast could be better as pancakes doesn't really work for a hostel this size and it requires more showers.

We've stayed in quite a few hostels on a cross-country road trip. Though satwisfied ith the cleanliness and security, arguably two of the most important factors, we were disappointed in the location of the facility. It seemed as if, to walk anywhere, you needed to work through very bad/dangerous parts of town. The staff also did not enforce quiet hours, frustrating for those with early departures. Last, the bathroom has no sink/soap - just empty antibacterial gel.

Only stayed a couple of nights and only went there to sleep, but anyway: Pros: Excellent location! (I know, some people keep insisting the area's a bit 'dodgy', but use some common sense and you'll have no problems at all). Fair value for money. Loved the linen! (very soft - cool color combinations). Cons: No lockers in the rooms. No luggage storage on-site (although you can store your luggage at a backpacker-center just three doors down). No lock on ensuite bathroom door.

When we arrived the man in the front desk was drunk and not to happy at all to have a little work to do, we almost need to fight for stay in the hostel! You can smell a very bad odor just when you has open the main door. The mattress was so tiny and the sheets are dirty! The only thing good in this hostel is the location! But just if you want a noisy room and fun at the same plate!

i chose deluxe room for this time because it includes restroom and shower in the room. it was convenient but the locker was broken so i couldn't lock the door of restroom. also, there was no wall socket in the room :( even though there was one electrical outlet in the restroom but it didn't work. except those two, it was good hostel compared to price.

The room was very dirty and there was bed bugs, I could actually feel bugs. Other than that, bathrooms and shower were very clean, everything else was very clean, except the bedroom. Overall it was perfect for the location, events, free beer and free pancakes specially. Great place to make friends!!!

Staff was cool and the price is really good considering they give free pancakes/oatmeal for breakfast, coffee and beer at night. The room I stayed in was a 4 person male dorm that my buddy and I only shared with two others 1 of the 2 nights we were there. The private bathroom was clutch and very clean. David from spain is legit and fun to play poker with. The central location is perfect for getting around. Would definitely recommend and stay again.

No one tells you that this Hostel is in one of the worst parts of town BE SAFE. If you do decide to come here, ask for a room that has no outdoor facing windows. I got 3 hours of sleep due to the homeless people out the window yelling @ one another. There's no AC in the rooms, so plan on sweating all day. Free b-fast was self serve pancakes and you better get up early to get it if you're checking out. USA Hostels on Post St. is a much better deal plus they have liquid creamer unlike SFIH. C-

For the price the Hostel is quite nice. Pancakes for breakfast, however, somtimes you have to wait because you have to make them yourself. The lockers are not in the rooms and quite small (I could fit my Laptop in there only barely). No sinks in the bathrooms which is very inconvinient, you have to go back to your room everytime. Moreover, the cold water gets incredibily hot sometimes. All these things are a bit annoying but I would stay there again.

The hotel is centrally located, the equipment in the rooms average. The kitchen is well acknowledged. The lounges are good. The athmosphere in the hostel was great. Very fast connection ... I loved the bar at basement ;)

The hostel is located in downtown, which is very dirty and dangerous part of the city, full of strange and crazy people. The rooms are very small, the kitchen is very dirty and there's no breakfast (which we were told there is), you can only make yourself pancakes (with an old oil) and therefore the whole hostel smells like burned pancakes! Also the stuff at the reception desk wasn't very friendly.. I was very dissapointed what I got for my money.
