The hostel is located in downtown, which is very dirty and dangerous part of the city, full of strange and crazy people. The rooms are very small, the kitchen is very dirty and there's no breakfast (which we were told there is), you can only make yourself pancakes (with an old oil) and therefore the whole hostel smells like burned pancakes! Also the stuff at the reception desk wasn't very friendly.. I was very dissapointed what I got for my money.

Weak/No Wifi signal inside the room (6th floor) , you have to go out to get strong signal. Easy to locate and very close to the powell st subway and most of the staffs are nice.

Awesome atmosphere. It's niceto arrive and be able to eat whenever and I enjoyed the fact to gather all for a beer at night. There are always activities organised and it's much appreciated. The rooms are not so clean as much as the kitchen, but I wasn't expenting any better knowing the numbers of people passing and not caring here and there everyday.. Besides it is a youth hostel I didn't expect more, it was one of the best hostel I've ever been

Staff very friendly from the moment I stepped into the place. There was a space to store my electric bike. Good value when you consider the location and the international atmosphere with people from all over the world makes it an enjoyable place to stay.

It was a good stay up until I had to leave, I came down to check out at exactly 10.00am (Check-out time) the reception was full with at least 15 people checking in, so naturally I decided to wait in the other room until the reception was clear, came back at 10.30am and checked out, as I didn' check out at 10.00am I was not allowed my $5 key deposit, which was not possible as the reception was full of people. Normally I wouldn' care but I lost my credit car the day before which was my only income

I really enjoy my time there!! It's a awesome place to meet people!! Free beer every night (thanks a lot!!!), good facilities, pancakes and coffee free, very nice location, gentle and helpful staff. It's not the most clean hostel that I stayed but It's not that bad. I recommend and also have plans to go back there soon!!

Great, clean, central hostel. Free beer in the evenings and pancakes all day are great when you're on a budget! Could be a little cleaner in the bathrooms and make more bathrooms available for guests as there are not many to share between a lot of people. Staff were friendly and helpful. Would stay again for sure!

It's not the most modern hostel of California but the location is just great, the staff is nice, and it's very easy to meet people. Free beers and beer pong every night! Washing machine and dryer are cheap. On the other hand, breakfast is basic, lockers are very small and there are not in the bedroom, TV doesn't work, no sink in the common bathroom, the dining room is very dark, no free luggage storage. But I really spent a good stay here, I booked 3 nights at first and I stayed 8 more!

They has policy that does NOT allow second booking by on-line. I did not know about that. When I booked, I could not find warning about that. But they allowed my second booking and I thanks to hostel. It is not ending. They said "I lost my money because of you" (It means if I book by offline, they could make more money.) And they plainly asked "100 point review" for even 30 minutes. It was 1 AM. I was very tired. But they didn't care of me. I was so angry that I changed hostel. TERRIBLE!!!!!!

If you like a private game area where you can drink free beer with other young un's , you'll ignore everything else I say. The sheets they hand out are very poor quality, The comforters of the hostel up the street are 1000% better. No free towels like the other hostel. The room had patches of carpet missing because of it being threadbare and old, and a brick had been glued on the wall and had fallen down. The price was good, but for $10.00 more, I would probably stay up the street next time..

Lift has room for improvement, but is sufficient. Interesting concept of parties every night. Dining area could be cosier to facilitate more chats. Add more sofas? Couches. Talking areas?

It has fabulous location. The staff here are friendly and helpful. Yet, the only problem is the restroom doesn't have the sink. So you have to walk to your room to wash your hands.
