This place is not clean, the staff assists you as if they want to get rid of you. The value is great, no doubt about it, but it does not compensate for the noise and disorganization. I moved to another hostel because this hostel really sucks.

Great Location! Right in the heart of San Fran... a little noisy, but there are ear plugs for that. Great shower and comfortable mattress. It did get a little hot during the night due to a heater that wouldn't turn off, but other than that pretty good value for the price.

Great place. The rooms could have used a locker. They did not charge a processing fee.

The hotel locates conveniently where you can go anywhere easily, bart and metro is nearby. As well as restaurants, shopping malls. The staffs were happily to serve you and gave the best service to help you in direction. Overall is the best hostel i ever lived among san frans, LA, LV, and miami. Also, they have lift to help you move your luggage. Whole day pancake coffee and tea is a bonus.

Imagine your a character in a Dashielle Hammett novel. "He was living in a two-bit hotel in the Tenderloin." This converted 6-story hotel has plenty of character and couldn't be more centrally located. Probably a lot safer and cleaner than in the 30s. I was comfortable here and will probably return. No many power plugs in the rooms, however, so bring a branching cube.

Filthy! Our room had hair, grime and filth throughout. There was evidence of prior bed bugs: the tell-tale spots on the mattress covers, but we didn't see any actual bed bugs or get bitten. The street this place is located on is home to a disproportionately large number of homeless people, most of them with substance abuse problems. I personally observed 2 separate crack deals go down across the street. Staff was unwelcoming. Towels cost $5 - no refund. One of the worst hostels I've been in.

San Francisco International Hostel is a great place to stay if you are looking for great location. The atmosphere is also really good and the staff is usually helpful. Just missed a in-dorm locker with eletronic charge station inside. And as a suggest, although I think the everyday free beer party is awesome, I think they can think about other activities as pub crawl or walking tours.

I don't know if we could find better one at this price. Please let me know if there is another one. Personally I think it's best at this price, and the staff are friendly and polite, and the mates I met there are all nice and friendly. I love the feeling. I will definitely come back in July.

Ok here's the low down. Free pancakes and Tecate is awesome. It was really great to stay at the international hostel as an American because I was able to meet people from all over the world. The staff was always nice and provided everything we needed from answers to towels. I stayed four nights and loved it. At first I was unsure if the place really had any character because I arrived mid day, but this place really gets kickin' at night. It is in a great location, too!

The hostel is great for socializing, every night most of people get together in the lounge. Is just one block from Market St. and from Metro (bart) Station, Bus, Train and even Cable Car. The kitchen is not the cleanest in the world, but the rooms and bathrooms were very ok.

Got upgraded from a 4 bed dorm to a private room which was so great. Nice hostel. The staff are excellent - so friendly and full of great advice. Free beer is super and price is reasonable :) Would stay here again

Very cheap, great location, good staff. I give it up to the housekeeping staff who do everything to keep this place clean in spite of the infrastructure. There are no sinks on the restrooms nor in the showers and hand sanitizers are not always available nor filled. Sinks are in your room. Hand soap dispensers are always empty and there are no hooks to put your stuff on. It is not uncommon to wait 40 minutes to take a shower. Nightclub on premise is ok and free beer is welcome. Internet is ok.

Is it a great place to meet people from all around the world, besides of knowing the city, you also have the chance to interact (if you want), and get to know different cultures. It is not a place to rest and to get comfortable, it is a place to have fun, to know as much as you can and to spend your time to make it worth it.

A few persons from the team are not nice BUT the rest are good and efficient people. Excellent location but need to be careful not entering the bad neighboarhood nearby. The bike rental is a MUST!

The rooms are a little tired but the friendly staff and decent free breakfast made up for this. The bathroom was clean and there were complimentary towels stored in there which was a handy addition. The blankets were very thin, so if you get cold maybe bring your own to make up for it. The location was ace, only a two minute walk into the center of downtown SF, lots of public transport nearby including the BART train, MUNI and busses. Good value for money!

I booked a 4 bed female dorm and I got a 8... I said nothing because it was ok but I think it's not really honest to do that but anyway the location was perfect and the bathroom was clean every day. You have locker for your stuff. Oh just one thing if you want to plug your phone you have to be very patient !!
