I've got the privateroom, room is clean. The facilities is line with hotel, Hostal has provided towel, glass, tv. But room door lock was broken, even the building main door. Hostel has two wifi hotspot, but it's weak on my room
Basic hostel in the heart of Madrid. Excellent staff, and an ideal no-frills stay for those on a budget.

Great staff they were very helpful for when I needed directions! Would stay again for sure! Liked the feel of the hostel very homely
As I was traveling alone, I got a private room here for 26 Euro a night which was great. The room was small but cozy with a TV, fresh towels every day, and a fan for the summer heat. Very comfortable and clean. The guy who runs it doesn't speak much English but was very nice and polite. It's located right off Gran Via right in the center of the city, and within walking distance to everything. I loved it, but If you want to meet people and socialize then this isn't the best place for you.
Hostal San Martin was conveniently situated just off the Gran Via, a Metro stop was only 40 metres away and all of the major attractions were within a 10 minute walk. Lots of restaurants, shopping and even a supermercado one minute away. The accomodations were basic but more than fair for the price. Only complaint- no luck with the Wifi, but when you're in Madrid you should have better things to do anyway.
