I loved the train rooms and the location.

The cabins are cute but compact so be warned, try not to take too much luggage! The whole Place is kept very clean, the breakfast is good and the restaurant serves meals throughout the day and night which are reasonably priced. Location is excellent! Right on the beach and close enough to walk into town.
Had a nice stay. The dorm room is quite squishy, not much room for your bags, there was only 4 of us when I stayed so wasn't a major problem but if it was full it could be a problem . The carriage was very hot during the day, it did cool down for the night but couldn't image on really hot days in the busy time. 1min to the beach which is a bonus. Easy walk to town. No secure luggage storage if u leave later in the day (it stays in front of the reception desk)
OK, booked into the 'express train' because the main place was full. The novelty of the sleeping on a train is pretty much what gets you through this - I had a bed in a no fewer than 16 bed dorm with one toilet and shower to go around. Yeah - that sucked, I didn't even try the shower I'm the morning, just a quick swim (Santos beach is lovely) Mossel Bay town itself is dull as nuts too, everything was shut pretty much all the time... and I was there in supposedly peak season?
A common area for the guest of the hostel would be nice, otherwise great hostel :)
No doubt, it the most cool hostel I have ever been. This train is just awesome! All the windows have the sea view... The bed is super confy... The shower and toilet extremelly clean. Only the stuff of the hostel are not so helpfull... They dont explain the activities the city offers or stop to tell you about the city map. They just show you folders and more folders and you have to figure yourself.
On a train so no kitchen or social areas, good bar but locals hangout and not many backpackers in it. Rooms very small and cramped but awesome location overlooking the beach. A one stop place to be, no more.
Great view of the ocean. The train cart were kept as clean as possible but because they are located near the beach, there was no way to avoid getting sand in your room.
I absolutely loved this hostel. It was unique - a train parked right on the beach. The best part about it? BEST SHOWER EVER!! The water was scalding hot (which is rare for hostel showers) and you actually have to wait for the cold water to kick in. I wish we stayed longer in Mossel Bay; there were cute little shops in town and lovely eateries.
A realy funny accomodation. We were very glad to sleep there : the train is really near the beach, the personal very nice... We stayed in the 16 bedrooms. It was okay for one night, but maybe it wont be for more days because there is only one toilet and one shower. I recommend this place (but if you stay long time, you may take a smaller room. after it's your own convenience :))
Stayed 2 nights. The ladies at the front were lovely, helpful, and funny. The novelty of this awesome hostel-former-train is kinda cool. Was here during low season, so it was a bit lonely. The 16-bed dorm is a fun experience though, like riding on a train with a constant view of the beach. :) Great location to do the shark cage diving; the company is only a 10-min walk away. And I felt safe in Mossel Bay in this hostel. No kitchen, but the affiliated bar/restaurant makes good food but not cheap.
