The worst hotel and worst service! January 9 working woman is the worst manager! When I do a room reservation through the Internet, the picture had a good room, but when I arrived and settled, a very different, very bad room. I asked to change room, I was refused. I duly paid for his room, he lived for some time, but one morning at the reception told me that they have handed over my room to another and I need to move out of the hotel, it's like that?? !!

I enjoyed my stay at the hostel, great value for money. Had a great few days by the pool and the bar, the staff were the best :).

Cold showers but it was so hot you could live without it - I brought a fishtank heater element along to spoil myself on those days when I wanted a luke warm shower - had to ask for 2 buckets (ember in indonesian) though. Many cheap massages, restaurants (especially that Masakan Padang) and laundries nearby. The restaurant at the hotel was brilliant. Book for 5 days or more and they offer free airport pickup or call the hostel when you land for pickup fee of 60000 Rupiah for less days booked.

I enjoyed my stay at Sayang Maya Mertha. It was a great location and some of the staff was really nice and helpful, although some of the staff was very standoffish and frustrating. The breakfast was included which was pretty basic of toast and some fruit but I didn't expect much more anyways. For a cheap place it's definitely a good deal although hard to meet people considering it's a hotel (the pool helped with that...made it a place to hang out!)

What I like: Big room & nice breakfast & I love the swimming pool & near the beach What I dont like: Sometimes the staff unfriendly, the door lock design (after you lock the door, you still can open the door a little bit), and I got the old room where everybody else got the new room (maybe because I'm asian & solo)... Overall: I'll be back...... comfortable....

According to the Hostel World web site, the room was supposed to have an aircon and hot shower, but there was just a fan and cold shower. I could upgrade my room to the one which "I booked" for around double price which was quite disappointing. The free breakfast - 2 toasts with marmalade - were not enough for me so I always had to order something extra, but apart from that the food in the hotel was great and for reasonable price. I also enjoyed the pool.

You get what you pay for. The rooms are sparse, basic and kinda a dirty place to sleep, but a place nonetheless. If I had more money to spare I would have upgraded to a nicer place, but i didn't. And I would return if I was on the same budget again... boyfriends comments: not that anything disappeared, but it strikes me as the type of place you wouldn't want to leave valuables laying around.

Lot of works just in front of my room when I'm arrived. And really bad smell in my room. Quite dirty in the bathroom.
