I stayed there 22 - 24 JAN 12. . The place itself is not horrid. The folks who run it are great. Their evening meal and beer was good. To say "it needs repairs" is an understatement. The problem is the owner. I arrived mid-day on a Sunday and the owner watched multiple US football games on TV, in the commom room, with the volume at about 199 decibles (dB), switching from one channel to another in rapid succession. Overall the staff was very friendly and made me feel at home right away, however the rooms were not that nice and the overall building was run down. Also the staff would sometimes " invite you" for coffee meals etc this is not included in the high price but are extra which they tell u after. The city itself is not pleasant at all I would skip Belize city and go straight to the stunning cayes, accommodation is much nicer and cheaper there. I loved Adela she was a sweetheart!
