The over-friendliness of the staff was initially a little uncomfortable and overbearing but they are all good, well-meaning people. It's a great hostel to meet other travelers -- We went out to a club on Friday night as a big group and had a delicious home-made meal at the hostel cooked by the staff! These were the touches that made the hostel feel so much homier than others.

Excellent place to stay in Istanbul! We were offered apple tea upon arrival and a great breakfast every morning. In walking distance to everything you would want to see. Staff was very friendly and helpful. Free walking your with Memo was awesome. Great atomsphere and place to meet other travelers. Hostel staff even arranged for a 3am ride to the airport at a reasonable price.

Second Home Hostel really is as the name says - A second home! The staff are absolutely brilliant (John and Memo - so friendly, funny and helpful!) They helped organise my travels around Turkey and made me feel very welcome and safe in Istanbul. I will definitely stay again when I come back, and will recommend to all my friend that travel to this amazing city. All in all - a fantastic experience. Clean and spacious rooms, great showers and fast wifi that works throughout the entire hostel! :D xo

After staying at Second Home, I was shocked that it has such high reviews on Hostel World. The security at this hostel is the worst of any hostel I've ever stayed. There are no locks on any of the doors and no lockers for your valuables. Someone came into our dorm to grab the trash every morning while we were sleeping (creepy). The dorm was cold. It was unclear if the blankets had been washed (no top sheet or duvet). There was little sound-proofing so it was hard to sleep. Stay elsewhere!!

We had a wonderful stay at the Second home hostel. The staff was very friendly and told us everything we needed to know about Istanbul. The hostels location was excellent, with walking distance to the must-sees as the moskées and bazaars. We would definitely recommend this place!

Don't expect a fancy hotel, but good for the money you pay. the staffs are sometimes not that polite with the guests. the dormitory is not that clean. but the most important weakness was that THE DORMITORY WAS VERY COLD! It was very unusual how can they leave that place with sufficient heating devices!

Staff was helpful, funny and welcoming. I had such a great time in Instanbul, in the center of the city (5min walk from Blue Mosque, Aya Sofia), and main tramline just at the corner of the street.

I enjoyed my stay and found the staff to be helpful and courteous. It would be nice to publish directions from the airport to the hostel (via metro and tram) on your website, since many budget travelers would be interested in this information. Also, when I called from the airport, I could not get through to anyone who spoke English. I had to call back three times. Otherwise, everything was fine. Thank you.
