Everything was perfect! The staff was an extremely friendly couple from USA&Japan and helped me sort out the rest of my trip. The location is perfect since it's in walking distance to the Dogo Onsen!

My favorite place that I stayed in Japan. The two staff members are so accomodating and ready to share their knowledge and love for Shikoku island. They gave a great recommendation for a day hike to temple 54 and 55 of the 88 temple pilgrimage. Beautiful traditional japanese dorm room and showering facilities. The hostel itself is located very near to dogo onsen. I forgot to mention the beautiful communal kitchen and the rooftop swing/hammock/picnick table area to watch the sunset!

Amazingly helpful staff. Advices and help provided beyond any expectation.

Thanks for letting us host you...happy to give advise and hope you can make it back to this corner of Japan!

Definitely the best hostel I stayed in this trip. The hostel itself was really nice - the futons were super comfortable, the roof seating area was really nice and the kitchen/living area was clean and comfortable. But the staff are what really makes this hostel great - so friendly and helpful, they really made sure I got the most out of my time in Matsuyama!

Very friendly owners and great location.

We do love our area and giving interesting tips on things to do both in Matsuyama and greater Ehime/Shikoku. If interested in onsen (traditional Japanese hot spring baths), 88 temple pilgrimage temples and hiking, castles, art, music and/or beaches and islands, you can't do better than Matsuyama!

It doesn't get much better than this. Clean, comfortable, nice kitchen, located near fantastic onsen (two), many nice restaurants, fresh coffee and tea, and the husband / wife team are perfect hosts. More like staying with your family or best friend. Easy to meet fellow travelers. Easy to get to from train station. Short tram ride. Cool trams. Definitely, go here!

Hey! Thanks a ton for the kind words...super happy to host you. We do love our little "onsen village". Luckily there is so much more than just onsen in the area; from the amazing hiking of the pilgrimage, to beautiful islands with nice beaches, to traditional villages to one of the best castles in Japan!

very helpful and friendly staff location is fantastic for the onsen, easy to get to from the station

Thanks for you stay, I hope you can make it back to Matsuyama and Dogo one day!

This place was great in every way. The common areas were especially nice, with lots of room for hanging out and socializing. The tatami room was beautiful, and the owners were extremely helpful. We would have loved to stay longer. Thanks so much!

We do recommend people coming to Matsuyama to stay at least 2 nights (if not 3 or 4). This is such a great area; pilgrimage temples, amazing castle, gardens, art (there is a Dogo Onsen art festival happening this year) and some of the best food in Japan. Also tons of day trips, pristine villages (Uchiko/Ozu), interesting islands/beaches, hiking and cycling.

i think Sen is the best Hostel in the world. Cleanness,Location is good, but the staff is the best.

Wow...well...we do try our hardest to make this place as awesome as possible. Thanks and hope to see you again!

Awesome place to stay! I highly recommend Sen Guesthouse and would definitely stay here again. The owners are super nice and welcoming. Location: 5 minute walk to Dogo onsen and station. Atmosphere: great lounge area on the first floor for hanging out and meeting new people. Comfy beds, lockers available, clean bathrooms and showers. Only downside is wifi signal is weak in the rooms but it works perfectly downstairs. We need more hostels like Sen Guesthouse!

Loved it! Beautiful place, lovely owners, and particularly loved the lounge area with the awesome furniture and nice chilled music in the mornings!

Thanks so much for choosing to stay with us. I'm a total music-phile and try to make the tunes reflect the ambiance of the building; also try to turn people on to good Japanese electro also! We appreciate the kind words and hope to see you again!

This is a backpackers' youth hostel. Senior citizens might feel out of place, but management will nevertheless make them feel welcome and will assist them any way they can. One travels between the kitchen/common shower area and the rooms by a circular outdoor stairway (which is a nice way to greet the morning). There is a rooftop garden that offers a nice panaoramic view. Buslines are within easy walking distance or management will be glad to call a taxi for you. There is plenty of hot water!

Thanks for staying with us! I would not exactly call us a "backpackers' youth hostel" but thanks for the sentiment. We have people of all ages, nationalities, interests stay with us and we do all we can to make all people feel welcome. Our facilities include: private rooms, dorm rooms (mixed/female), private Japanese baths, kitchen, tons of common space and our awesome roof terrace...hope you can make it back one day...

Loved this hostel. Very well equipped and located very close to Dogo onsen. The staff were friendly and keen to share local knowledge on temple sites to visit.

Glad you dug the hostel and Dogo...really so much to explore in the area it's hard for us to stay quiet about it!

Great guest house and interesting places in town the owners can tell you about!
