What a fantastic get away. The owners make you feel right at home and are supper attentive to any need that should come up. I traveled with 3 other girlfriends, and we all felt very taken care of. The breakfast was wonderful and very healthy--it was nice to experience a traditional Japanese breakfast. Traveling to the snow monkey park is a MUST. Absolutely fantastic. Make sure you wear very warm shoes and socks!

The ryokan is delightful, the baths are wonderful (HOT)and the owners very friendly. I was in the "small" room and it was plenty big enough for me, with its own toilet, sink (cold water only). The main area had a futon and kotatsu, which was just great. They were set up for a single traveller, and there was at least one other in the dining room the night I stayed.The lift to the monkey part the next morning was very appreciated!! The monkeys were gorgeous.
